Bill's Baseball Thread [Experts ONLY]

I had never heard of slugging percentage since the stats and metrics got out of control.
I wonder what Satchel Paige's "safe" pitch count was. I think that is a load of $hit statistic. Somebody forgot to tell Gibson, Ryan, and P. Niekro that business.

Hank Aaron. After all the shiz he put up with, I hope he always knew what an icon he was to us little leaguers.

Well, none of that mattered to Gibson since no one could get on base against him.

Anyways… Bonds batted .362 that season with 232 walks and 45 bombs. Absolutely absurd. Home run king. Should be in Cooperstown. And, again, not a fan. There’s a lot of slimy pricks enshrined at Cooperstown, might as well add 4 more

I remember where I was when I heard that Aaron broke Ruth's record. I was outside at the old house, it was late in the evening, and dad told me to come inside and said that Aaron did it.
I remember being in front of the TV for every Braves game I could that season.

I have a memory of watching it happen. I doubt that memory is correct. I do still have the SI issue.

Fun story: when my deployment crew was leaving the ‘Stan, I was responsible for flights getting everyone back into Bagram and the new crew out (in reverse order). So my commander and 1SG introduced me to the incoming commander by letting him know I was a huge baseball fan. I won him over by being able to name all seven ways a batter can reach first while we were eating chow one evening.
