Yep. That's why On Base Percentage is maybe a better stat to show how effective a batter is at getting on base.

Fun story: when my deployment crew was leaving the ‘Stan, I was responsible for flights getting everyone back into Bagram and the new crew out (in reverse order). So my commander and 1SG introduced me to the incoming commander by letting him know I was a huge baseball fan. I won him over by being able to name all seven ways a batter can reach first while we were eating chow one evening.
