Biopsy's airline gripe thread

Coming back from my cousin's wedding in Jacksonville, I had a mom and her 18 year old son behind me. They both reeked of cat. They also both brought McDonalds on the plane and were chomping away with their guns wide open. About halfway through the flight this nasty SoB takes his shoes off and puts his nasty ass feet on the back my seat, resting in the crack of the chair. As soon as I felt his nasty ass toes, I turned around and chewed his sorry add out in a quit tone as to not attract too much attention. I was so infuriated at their lack of manors I couldn't help but let myself go.

I travel fairly frequently, and I always gate check, and pick my bag up as a I exit the plane. It's not worth the hassle, of fighting for overhead space.

The show MythBusters did an episode where they tested plane boarding scenarios to discover which was quickest and most efficient. Ironically, the free-for-all was the quickest in their test. I'm dubious. I cannot figure out why Airlines do not board back to front, window to aisle after first class seating is finished. It seems like that would be the quickest and most efficient process.

LOL... always made me laugh in Japan when flying Hanada to Oita, the Japanese have boarding down to a science and have zero patience if you cannot keep up with the flow. Never have seen a 747 load and unload so fast... no BS allowed, find your seat, stash your bag and sit down. I like it. Hell, here, it turns into a soap opera trying to board a plane.

My interest is piqued.

What's their boarding order/method?

I always get the window seat in 1st, so hoi polloi doesn't knock over my drink while they're shuffling by.

Problem with that is not all airports will allow that. I've had to gate check my bag many times then pick it up at the carousel.

depends on the size of the plane. in my experience, if you're in a smaller plane, going to a smaller airport, your bag is usually pulled off the plane and brought to a specified location on the tarmac. can't remember if it's AVL or TYS where you go inside and wait for this metal door to be raised so you can grab your stuff.

95% of my flying is done on the company plane. Southwest in and out of Nashville.

I'm flying southwest to Minneapolis this August to attend a wedding. Is the $15 early bird check in really worth it? Does it mean I'll get a higher draw as far as boarding early is concerned?

I always pay it when flying SW. It beats having to remember to check in 24 hours in advance or ending up squeezed in a middle seat.

I've only flown SWA once but thought it was worth it. Especially if you're traveling with someone you want to sit next to.

I've found out that since they've added this feature, even if you check in 23:59:59 before you fly you will get a high A number maybe low B.

If you are with someone else one of you can buy it then save a seat

So the airline is responsible for an individual’s hygiene? And being lax on the issue has sent the whole industry to he**?
