Birther issue is coded racism?

lawgator will feel vindicated. He believes any criticism of Obama that comes from "the right" is racism.

I'm getting tired of all of the "he doesn't need to show his birth certificate and if you ask him to you're a racist" rhetoric.

At this point, the state of Hawaii should make an exception and cough it up/explain why they don't have it.

It has nothing to do with race, it has to do with
the constitution and whether we will adhere to
it or not.

There is a reason for that article being written
into the constitution and Obama is the best example
ever of just why it was written in, and that has
nothing at all to do with skin color or race.

Have you read Zakaria's book??

Obama was reading it during his campaign for
the presidency.

Newsweak sucks and so does Fareed's book,
I think he called it; "Post America World" or
something like that. (CNN sucks most of all.)

Based on his comments quoted in my OP, I have no desire to read Zakaria's book.

and to answer the question quoted in the OP, yes, a white person of similar background would be investigated. Just ask John McCain, who was born in the Panama Canal Zone.

How the hell should I know?: A globalist speaks. He's disappointed in us all...

As noted above, Zakaria is a member of both the CFR and the Trilateral Commission. The stated purpose of the Trilateral Commission is to create a “New International Economic Order,” in other words one world government at the expense of national sovereignty.
---------------------------------

It is no mistake Obama was spotted reading Zakaria’s The Post-American World. The book argues that American is in decline and the sort of “authoritarian modernization” at work in the slave labor gulag of China is all the rage.

For Obama, reading the book – and being photographed with it – was a natural. His administration, after all, is stacked with CFR members, globalists, and Goldman Sachs cronies.

The Interpreter - Page 1 - News - New York - Village Voice

Upper-class Indian academic raised in mostly secular household becomes America's favorite explainer of the Muslim world, ....
------------

In the last few years, Zakaria has become a kind of bridge to the Arab world—an Asian-born Muslim with a Yale and Harvard education who seems willing to act as a cultural interpreter.

What we are talking about is a super monopoly,
Espin just about has that in the sports world!

Either Barack Obama, Sr. isn't listed as the father or Obama's race is listed as "white"...

That is the reason why we will not see the birth certificate.

I think we won't see it because he doesn't have one and that's it. I love how the liberal azz media sticks up for him every time it comes up. Shows like GMA make me sick. George Stepanopoulos made me want to reach through the tv and choke the life out of him. The media is eat up with clueless dipsheets.

Book isn't that bad -- sorta reminds me of Fukuyama.

Fareed is a very bright guy. You don't find nearly as much international coverage on any American news channel as you do on GPS.

So, Obama cannot read any book he wants?

Of course, I don't expect you, GS, to read both sides of any issue, so you would not understand that people can read books and yet not prescribe to the philosophies espoused in said books.

Would have been even better, for you, if he had been photographed reading a Koran!!! SHAME!

According to the NY Times Barry can quote the
Shahadah in Arabic which says in part:

"I witness that there is no god but Allah,
and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah"

Anyone with even slight degree of literacy understands
that this is considered to be a profession that one is
indeed a muslim.

President Obama could breath and people would find something wrong with it!! I'm not much into politics but I think he should not seek reelection just for the simple fact that he is criticized for any little thing he does or says.

So quoting something means you believe it?

Half the country thought everything Bush II did was wrong by virtue of him being Bush II as well. He got reelected because the dems couldn't find somebody appealing enough to win. At this point, I see the same thing happening in 2012 but in obama's favor.

It's hard to beat a wartime President. Particularly when the war was still half-popular.

It's not that if he were white and had the same circumstances of birth that makes the birther issue "code" for racism. Rather, it is use of the birther issue as a proxy to remind everyone of his African roots. There is definitely a racial element to that -- anyone who says otherwise is either denser than concrete or outright lying. But its not because of unequal treatment on the issue based on his race.

As am I.

A bit off topic but during some protests against the Tea Party in Portland last weekend there were several protestors yelling at an AA TP member calling him a token, Uncle Tom, house negro, etc.

I guess we can conclude then that people who are against the TP are racist since some people yelled racial slurs and NO ONE STOPPED THEM. Therefore they implicitly condone racism and must be labeled as racists.

See how that works?

I'm consistent on it. As I say, it is not racist in and of itself -- it just reminds everyone of his ethnic background. And I do believe that is on purpose and clearly a lot of people are uncomfortable with it.

That's okay. It is probably to be expected. And I'll even add that I imagine a certain percentage of the birther crowd would still be uncomfortable, even if they knew he was born in the U.S., with the fact that his father is Kenyan.
