BJ Coleman @ AL

BJ is the starter @ UTC and they have made a huge turnaround vs. last year. 2008 they were 1-11, so far this year 6-4. He is putting people in the stands & a month ago he was on the cover of the local magazine.

I'm guessing he is happy and most folks are happy he's here.

And that is all he ever was. The only TD he ever threw at UT was to a Vanderbilt defender. He went where he could hear nothing but positives and be "the man." Who cares...

I was there. Awful game that we won. I'm not a BJ fan, uh, anyway, in his defense Vandy's secondary was pretty stout last year.

BJ throws like Brent Schaeffer, to bad he don't run like him.

Coleman apparently magically grew 2 inches going to UTC. Wasn't he listed at 6'3 here?
He didn't even look 6'3. They just showed him listed at 6'5 on TV.

Silliness.

He chose to play instead of sit. There isn't anything wrong with that.

I have to agree with this. He knew as well or better than anyone what his future was at UT. He is now the hometown hero with support coming from every direction at UTC and he is playing at a level that suits him. Good for him. He wasn't in Kiffin's plans so he left. He could have kept his mouth shut though.

I see him pretty regularly since I've gone back to school and taking some classes at UTC for my masters. There's no way he's anywhere close to 6'5". He's about 6'1" or 6'2".

Honestly, I didn't see any of the aftermath. Once he left, I saw no reason to pay any attention to it.

He should have just shut his hole about the staff and UT. Sour grapes don't look good on anyone.

You can see watching this game that he doesn't have the arm that Kiffin is looking for.

Living in Chattanooga, the local press treated as though the city had been hit by Hurricane Katrina.

It's one of the reasons I have no sympathy for him. The coverage was so ridiculously over the top by both the press and BJ, himself. Doctor Basketball and Mark Weidmer spent a month at the cemetery crying.

Exactly. BJ would've been a fine quarterback at a smaller D1 school, like a MAC school, or maybe even Vanderbilt, but his throws have nowhere near the velocity that Crompton or even Stephens put on them.

Sour grapes don't look good on anybody, but I still have a problem with him being labeled "quitter." If I had the choice of holding a clipboard in Knoxville or a football in Chattanooga, I probably would have made the same decision.

Of course, I would like to think I would have done it with a little class, but I'm just a classy guy.

I agree with that. My guess is that he would never have attained such a lofty label had he just moved on.

Can't fault the decision.

id you bother watching the game or do you just ike to laugh at college kids without knowing any of the facts? You must be proud.

Probably almost as proud as the Chattanoogans who still won't admit that Crompton was a better fit for the UT offense, or even more blasphemous, that Crompton has turned out to be a good SEC qb.

You know... all the ones who mysteriously got really quiet around 6 games ago, who just before then were calling for an investigation into the black helicopter flyin' Lane Kiffin Conspiracy to bench Coleman for recruits, when it now looks like Stephens could very well be the guy next year.

Me thinks they've been drunk on ole granny's moonshine...
