B.J. Coleman - QB - Player Louisiana Tech RB Lennon Creer's 9-yard touchdown run with 47 seconds remaining gave the West a 24-17 victory over the East in the East-West Shrine Game.
Creer was named offensive MVP on the strength of 15 carries for 80 yards. No player impressed this week as much as UT-Chattanooga QB B.J. Coleman, who went 10-of-15 for 168 yards and a touchdown on Saturday. Possessing prototypical size (6'3/234) and a rocket arm, Coleman is the lone potential NFL starting QB among the Shrine prospects. Originally projected as a mid-to-late round pick, Coleman's stock is rising steadily.

What's worse, Kiffin told the media he hadn't talked to Coleman after he "quit" when in reality he was the one who told him to scram.

Fwiw, Kiffin also wanted Jesse Scroggins, Bray was plan b.

Scroggins will likely never see the playing field at USC.
There are currently 7 quarterbacks on the USC roster.
Matt Barkley will play in 2012 and then there is Scroggins, who will be a red shirt sophomore, along with 5 other red shirt freshmen or true sophomores. Should Scroggins get beat out by one of those in 2013, since he has less eligiblity than any of the others, he will likely not ever see the field.
Once he realizes this, he will either waste away on the bench or transfer.

Kiffin is so fortunate to be recruiting to a school in the state of California. It lessens his chances of making personnel-decision screwups.

Taj Boyd is another of his classic personnel decisions while he was at UT.

He was more like plan J or H. Scroggins was plan D or E. Everybody loves to give Kiffin credit for Bray, but the only reason Bray is a Vol is because Kiffin struck out with every QB he offered.

And I have always thought that BJ Coleman was a victim of Kiffin's reckless personnell management. He would have been a good QB at UT. He probably would not have been better than Bray, but he would have been a good one for Bray to be groomed under. I know I am probably in the minority on this, but I was really upset at the time when Kiffin sacrificed a good potential starter QB in order to make the depth chart seem more favorable for a QB recruit. And for those that called BJ a quitter, I am certain that if BJ had his choice, he would have been a Vol.

Kitten ran off Taj Boyd too, but I do like Bray.
Yep...that's 3 QB screw ups. The biggest was snubbing a major talent like Cam Newton. I was pissed when Kiffin and Chaney took Simms instead of him. Cam was ours for the taking and would have made as much of an impact on the team as J. Stokes is currently making for BB team.

Coleman would definitely have been an upgrade over Stephens or Simms.

You have no clue what you're talking about. Funny actually.

BJ lit it up for a startling 57% this year at UTC. That would have been good enough for Scout team in Knoxville. Thanks for the laughs.

I guess people didn't watch Clemson's QB play towards the end of the season. Not even close Bray is so much better than Boyd.

You could describe BJ in a lot of ways - many of them complementary, but describing him as having a "rocket arm" is not one of them.
