A little. The main thing is that they are a good salesman for the university. No matter what color

I always assumed black coaches would have a recruiting advantage. Seemed to not have been borne out in reality however. Go figure.

In the long term, the biggest recruiting advantage is winning.

And it doesn't hurt to add hookers and blow (see Miami 1980's through approx 2004)

I do think there's a big advantage recruiting kids in the south with an African American coach. When an African American coach sits in the living room and tells the kids parents about UT and offers a scholarship, it's kinda hard not to say they wont feel more comfortable; especially if they feel like they know where he's coming from....
