I always assumed black coaches would have a recruiting advantage. Seemed to not have been borne out in reality however. Go figure.

I do think there's a big advantage recruiting kids in the south with an African American coach. When an African American coach sits in the living room and tells the kids parents about UT and offers a scholarship, it's kinda hard not to say they wont feel more comfortable; especially if they feel like they know where he's coming from....

Nick Saban isn't black. Good coaches will give you an edge in recruiting. Charlie Strong is one of those.

This thread is why the rest of the country thinks the Tennessee fan base are overall wearing, toothless, barefoot, inbreds.

I absolutely think it helps more than it hurts. I like the idea of Strong because he has a defensive background. I'd love for us to get a strong defense and recruit dual treat qb's and hard hitting massive rb's.

I and so tired of the black coach comment. I think you pick the right man for the job ... white or black.


... just fyi I am a Steeler fan, I would not trade Mike Tomlin for anyone.

Sure if you primarily recruit racist black and white kids from racist families.
