Black jerseys to be auctioned (merged)

I actually wish this was an issue of differing opinions. Candidly, this is a difference of morality.
That’s true, some people are ok with contributing to a radical communist group simply because they go by the name BLM. Some people are just simply ignorant and some know what they are pushing, I assume Pruitt is just ignorant and trying to pander to a bunch of brainwashed players

I'll bite. Always nice to actually learn something new.
These cities are the worst for education, police brutality, and crime. The year represents the last time these cities were ran by a Republican Mayor.

**Edit** You may or may not find this interesting, but I sure did.

I thought everyone was against cops killing people like they did Floyd . So your saying that these people speaking out about the org BLM have no morality?
Clearly you are not following the social events that is occurring in America. Not "everyone" believes that what happened to Floyd is a crime, not everyone believes what happened Ahmaud Arbery is a crime, not everyone believes that what happened to Rayshard Brooks is a crime. That is why there is an ongoing protest. So if your response to BLM is that "all lives matter", yes your moral compass is askew because there is a systematic problem of young black males being killed by police. It happens regularly. Why do you think the team is doing this? It is to bring attention to and cure racism. I am really not sure what else I can explain to you about this.

If you compare the Floyd case to the Brooks case you are clueless. I have not talked to one person who thought the Floyd case wasn't a crime.

I am willing to bet Pruitt is clueless as to where the money goes along with the players being clueless where the money actually goes. People simply see a cause and do no research. This is not going to go well for the university or the team if they do actually donate to ActBlue the democratic party. That is where BLM money goes.

Exactly. Furthermore the BLM organization openly states and embraces marxism. That can't even be disputed. They want to radically change and overthrow our whole system of government. The University is wading into deep political **** if they donate to these violent extremists.

To get behind the phrase black lives matter and understand where black folks are coming from is one thing. Embracing a radical, racist organization that hijacked that noble phrase/cause that is another thing altogether. There are probably numerous charities that help minorities in need. BLM isn't one of them.

The group BLM is on the same level as domestic terrorist group Antifa
. . . read the Tweet I quoted. I would bet that CJP was speaking generically about donating the money to a black cause.

You're not going to make everyone happy, but I'm told they'll have a plan to make sure money raised goes directly to helping people, not political action, FWIW

Deciphering if he meant Karl Marx or Vladimir Lenin was not really the point of the thread was it? The frustrating part is that the UTAD, the University itself and the Student Athletes are not the ones turning this into a political debate. The are simply tackling a social issue that has long been ignored and some of their own fans, which I hope is a minority, are calling the naive, dumb and communists. And for some reason I am supposed to fear the younger generation taking over. I will take this current college generation over mine any day. They are smarter, more self aware and much more empathetic than any generation before them. This thread certainly proves that!
I don't think the threads always have one central issue there seems to be a many times where other side conversations break out. I think that is a good thing. I also support the intent of what the players are trying to do. As I've said I think they have their hearts in a good place. However I don't think BLM is an appropriate place for the money to go. I'm naturally distrustful of large organizations as is, I also don't agree with what some of their members advocate for. I'd rather see the money go directly to individuals in bad situations. As far as generations go I'm not sure what to think. I'm currently in college right now and I see a lot of good and a lot of bad in my generation. I think it's too early to make a judgement.

Robert, that is one of the fallacies of these arguments. It is assumed, and highlighted in the media, that these sort of crimes only happen when cops encounter black suspects. That argument is hollow and simply false. This is a law enforcement issue that affects whites and other races as well. Before you quote some stat along the lines of how many more times a black man is to be shot as opposed to a white man, look at all the data. You must consider the percentage of crimes committed by all races in regards to what percentage of the population that group is. When all things are considered, there is literally no discernible difference in the data.

As far as police go. They need more extensive training, and a vetting process. Stop having them put in positions that they aren't trained to handle, or responding to bull$hit that isn't worth their time or taxpayer dollars.

It's not their fault, they follow fraud SJWs like baby bron bron and Colin K around like lost puppies on social media and now every white guy is sports and sports commentary now also tells them all cops bad and all white cops are actively out hunting young black men. I'm starting to prepare myself to skip this coming season. Maybe covid hits again in the fall.
Sounds good. You won't be missed ✌🏻.. Lebron may be a flop baby but he has done a lot for the Ohio community and speaking out on important issues. Real frauds say stuff like "shut up and dribble".

What is the quote that I hear so often.... "Love it, or Leave it." Same could be said for this University, this Athletic Department, this Coaching Staff, Neyland Stadium and especially this Team.

I don't love sports and I don't love the Vols. I like them but I can dump them like a turd if they go leftist. I love my country, God and my family.

Well, I don't need to see the data (which I would be willing to debate with you given that African Americans are in the minority) all I need to see is the pain and anguish of black people in this community. That is the point that is consistently lost on you and everyone that is responding negative to this thread. Clearly, the African-American Student Athletes at the University of Tennessee feel compelled to do something. It is not fake to them, their pain and outrage is not phony. It is real. You can see it when they marched. So why you can decry stats and fake news, you cannot or should not disregard true human emotions. Especially for people that you cheer on. If you know police brutality is an issue, support them for no other reason that you know it to be true. Let them feel your understanding and compassion. Life really can be that easy. Its called empathy.
