Blaming refs is making excuses

The refs sucked....newsflash they always suck. There has never been a college basketball game I can remember where I walked away thinking "they called a great game!" I have walked away at best thinking a game wasn't absolutely terribly called.

It has an affect on the game, but it's not why we lost. Good teams control the things they can control, and we failed at doing that. That is why we lost. I don't think you can totally just ignore the officiating, but you can't concentrate on it as THE biggest complaint of the game. IMO when you do that, it's a loser mentality and one that starts to sound like excuses. I don't accept it when other fanbases do it and I'm sure not accepting when our own fans do it.

The worst part of this game was not the officials, the missed lay ups or 3 point shooting ----- the ABSOLUTE worst part of this game was listening to Jay Bilas. It was MUCH worse than Gary Danielson on 3rd Saturday of October. Think this was the worst commentary I have ever heard..........especially when Vescovi fouled that Kentucky player's elbow with his chin.........

beat them bad enough and the refs don't matter.

make your easy layups and the refs won't matter.

make more of the 3s you take and the refs won't matter.

don't make excuses when you lose.

UK may have lost a couple of games this year, but they are still UK. You can't go into that game with less intensity than they have and expect to win.
Make all those free-throws and the refs don't matter, oh wait...

If anything, I thought we got a couple of calls against Kentucky that we shouldn't have gotten. Our offense lost the game.

Yep, I've said in order, complaining or discussing whatever ppl call it. We missed 1. too many layups/bunnies,2. rebounding ratio was way off, 3. they shot 25 free throws, we shot 10. I think the big thing on the reffing in my opinion for some reason early, they called a lot of fouls on us guarding off the ball some slight initial holds etc. when UK players were making their cuts. Yes, they were fouls but those ticky tacks away from the ball usually are no calls especially in a rough & tumble game Calapari's words not mine. To me it got Vescovi frustrated early took him off his game (good job by UK) because he got called for those, then on the other end, they missed some on him where UK was holding him.
The game was there for the taking in many other venues with or without perfect reffing.
