Our OOC schedule isn't bad idk why people keep saying this. Other than the top 5 teams. Our schedule is on par with everyone in the top 25. UK's schedule is probably the only one tougher than ours in the SEC.
UT has 3-4 chances to get good wins. Similar to UK, if they can't take advantage of those chances then it'll be a repeat of last year with the ooc scheduling coming back to hurt both teams.
I think UT comes into SEC play with 2-3 losses. If they can beat Virginia, Xavier, and either Xavier/Iowa again then they should be fine. Hopefully they escape the OOC games without any losses to bad teams. A loss to a team like Citadel could really hurt them in the long run if they don't beat some good teams later on.
I guess that depends what your definition of "good win" is. According to the committee a good win is vs a top 50 RPI team isn't it? Virginia, Wichita State will both likely be top 50...Xavier will be right there as well, plus that game is on the road.
Add in the potential of playing Iowa and Kansas in the B4A and there's definitely more than 3 chances of a "good win" in their OOC schedule. Tennessee has one of the better OOC schedules in the country, I'm not sure how you can argue anything else.
Fwiw if we lose to Citadel we don't deserve to even be discussing the tourney.
3-4 is probably a conservative estimate. I overlooked Wichita State. Iowa is a borderline top 25. Xavier will be tough in Cincy. Kansas will be Kansas and I don't see UT beating them unless Wiggins and crew have no chemistry (see 2013 UK).
Any thoughts on NC State. They were really over hyped last year. More of the same this year?
I agree, if UT loses to Citadel then Vol fans can get ready for another up and down year.
Not sure how there's an RPI already released???
Auburn plays 4 high major teams OOC: Clemson, BC, Iowa State and Illinois. I don't think any one of those teams is ranked preseason by blue ribbon.
This is from ESPN
So yea, their OOC schedule in no way compares to ours.
I'm really not sure how that's even being figured at this point, do you? There's not an actual RPI number, so clearly that's just a random list and not an actual ranking.
The rest of my point about auburn's OOC schedule remains though...
No I don't bud. When I read your guys post asking where I found it I started second guessing I even saw it. lol
From the ooc games you posted I sure wouln't put'em that high.
NC State is crap this season. The ACC will be a lot of fun to watch though. UNC, Pitt, Duke, 'Cuse is my 1-4. NC State will be lucky to get 5 conference wins this season. Virginia will be pretty dang nice too.
Also, agree with majority about OOC schedule. It's not top 10 but for sure a top 30 OOC schedule IMO. But this team is plenty talented enough not to worry about OOC / SOS as much as the past couple of seasons. Besides Florida and Kentucky, there isn't a team as good as UT so as long as we take care of business, we'll be dancing.
Pitt will start three newcomers? I thought Pitt returned three starters from last years team? That was a decent team too. The ACC is top heavy. Not knocking Notre Dame I just think Dixon's boys will be pretty darn good. I don't follow Pitt as much as the Vols though so maybe they lost a couple of players. Also, didn't the kid from Vandy transfer there?
