Who are you guys favorite bands to listen to?
I like jam grass bands like Greensky Bluegrass and Leftover Salmon, but I also like more traditional stuff like Del McCoury Band. I listen to the old stuff and the new. I did the season tickets for bluegrass nights at the Ryman for about 15 years but finally burned out on the recurrent lineup, although I think those are great shows and an incredible value with top notch performers. I plan to be at Cavefest in Pelham in October, which will be my first live bluegrass show/festival in a few years.

Nice. I’m a traditional bluegrass fan. Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Authentic Unlimited, Rhoda Vincent and The Rage, JD Crowe and the New South, Tony Rice etc. I only ever listen to bluegrass. Best music on earth.

Never been to the Caverns. My grandpa went to see Doyle Lawson there and said it was a heck of a show. I come from a family of Bluegrass gospel musicians/singers. Don’t know if anyone here has ever heard of The Smoky Mountain Boys, but that’s group was started by my Grandpa, Dad and Cousin along with a couple other members. Based right here in the heart of Whittier NC.

Do you stream WNCW? They play bluegrass on and off all day, plus several all-bluegrass shows, some traditional, some new stuff. And they have a traditioinal gospel show on Saturdays, I think it is.

That's so awesome to have that musical lineage!

I’ve listened to some of the WNCW stuff. I’m all the time trying to find new music to listen to. Constantly surfing Amazon music to look for new material.

The brothers comatose will be back in Chattanooga for the 3 sisters blue grass festival.

These guys are awesome if you’ve never seen them.
I just looked at the website for 3 Sisters. Good lineup. I have not seen the Dismembered Tennesseans since Fletcher Bright passed. Their mandolin player’s wife and mine are college friends. It seems like just a short time ago I went to Chattanooga to see the premier of their documentary at the Tivoli but in reality I think it’s been close to 20 years. Time flies.

Check out Appalachian Smoke on YouTube. I’ve played a lot of music with their banjo and Mandolin player.

I am. More a fan of newgrass but do like some traditional. Loved the Wooks.
Did someone say Newgrass?IMG_2857.jpeg
How in the hell does this band not get more notoriety? Its like the Wu-tang of bluegrass.

Speaking of all stars, and perhaps the 🐐'sIMG_2859.jpeg
Tim is my all time favorite solo artist. Pete is amazing RIP Charles.

Hot Rize was legit. They added a new grass style but somehow managed to stay within the lines of traditional bluegrass as well. Nellie Kane was one of my favorites. Funny thing is, I’m only 27 and these are the guys my dad grew up listening to.
