Bo Pelini is going down swinging

What does that have to do with anything?

The reason for your relatively poor recruiting classes is irrelevant. The fact is that Tennessee has had them over the past few years.

You stated the reason was a lack of inste talent, and I disagreed. So yes, the reason is relevant.

You want to go there too?

You're saying Tennessee has in-state talent on par with Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, or South Carolina?

No one has talent like Georgia. That's the best job in the nation, and we are blessed every year that they keep Richt.

But we aren't far behind USCjr, Alabama, and Louisiana. I think the gap is closing too.

Nobody has talent like Florida. The Florida schools' problem is that it gets split between 3 big schools (FSU, Miami, Florida).

Tennessee's talent is nowhere near any of those states. Not even close. Fulmer's glory years occurred when programs in those states (except Florida) were down and he could go in there and poach guys from Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. He didn't build teams with guys from Tennessee. The talent just isn't there - never has been, at least in contemporary times.

Georgia's talent is superior to Florida. Check the # of rivals 250 guys the last 3-5 years. Georgia's talent is the best in the nation. And unlike Florida, California, and Texas, they have no real in state competition.

Also if you're saying those programs have to be down for us to win, I completely disagree. We have the facilitates, tradition, and staff of excellent recruiters.

When those programs are up, especially when all of them are up, it's going to be hard for Tennessee to win. Period. Virtually all those programs have tradition, a history of winning, good facilities, good recruiters, etc. Tennessee isn't differentiated enough in those regards for it to make a big difference.

That's also an interesting statement you made about Richt (we should be lucky Georgia keeps him around, because you think Georgia has better talent than anyone else and no in-state competition). You think they should fire him? A guy that's gone 126-44 in 13 years?

It's funny that GA produces so much elite talent, but they tend to lose their very best players to other schools (Megatron, Eric Berry).

That's exactly why. He has more in state talent than anyone, to include Texas. And he does nothing with it.

How in the world does Georgia have more in-state talent that Texas? Texas has 16 million more people in the state than does Georgia. Regardless what Rivals ranks them at...just based on the populations how is that even possible?

Even if that were not the case, Texas has to compete with multiple D1 schools in state. Georgia only competes with Georgia Tech in state. They literally double the out put of Alabama and Louisiana when it comes to 4 and 5 star prospects.

I think you do have to consider that the talent in the southern part of the state (think Valdosta area) is closer to FSU and Florida than Georgia. They go head-to-head with those schools for recruits in that part of the state.

Having said that, the two guys mentioned (Megatron and Berry) were Atlanta-area recruits, closer to the University, and they didn't get them.
