Bo Pelini Would be a great hire IMO

What about Bo Pellini says he should be hired over Fulmer? Seriously? Less successful with no ties to UT and absolutely zero recruiting name splash. Can he coach? I guess. I would say they have underachieved in the Big 10. If we are going to hire a bland guy that does a decent job with x's and o's, why not bring back the guy we are already paying, who actually has a NC under his belt. Plus I hear he owns land near Knoxville.

49-18 as a HC at a big time school.

4 out of 5 seasons they finished 1st or tied for 1st in their division.

Not bad IMO.

4 losses a year in big 10/big 12 equals 6 losses a year in SEC.

Maybe, maybe not. He would have an SEC team, not a BIG10/12 team. He would be recruiting to an SEC team, not a BIG10/12 team. I point to guys like Dooley as a reason to like the idea of coaches like Pelini. Dooley had this team on the cusp of a 8-9 win season and he is a career losing scrub of a coach. Pelini wins alot more than he loses. I'd take my chances he would make that 3-5 win/year difference.

He's too much of a whiney biatch to me... I understand intensity and I'm all for that but his tantrums with the refs just really put me off. And this is just me personally, but I'd absolutely detest watching that inept of an offense. I understand this is the SEC where grandpa ball rules supreme, but I am hoping the product on the field is more than just clock management. Clock management = watching paint drying in my never to be humble opinion, and that is completely what Pelini's offenses are.

Really? Seems odd to hear someone say that when Nebraska averaged 35.5 points a game this year. They averaged 460 yards a game on offense. 2500 yards passing and 3000 yards rushing. Something tells me offense is not a problem.

Ya I'm sorry every time I turn them on they are doing good to put up more than 20... and I see that they have put up numbers this year, so I retract that to a point.

I'm sorry I just am not huge Pelini fan, and for him it's mostly that I can't stand the temper tantrums he throws. However, the other side of the coin is that I'm an offensive minded kind of guy... which I know pretty much flies in the face of most Tennessee/SEC fans anyway.

I get it they put up numbers but I'm telling you I've watched Nebraska off and on since he got there if they were the prime time game that Saturday and more often than not it was almost guaranteed to be a defensive snoozefest than a shoot out. On that front I know I'm in the vast minority and I'd not complain if we were a vanilla defense first kind of team... but I just hope it was with someone who wasn't a whiney d-bag like Bo.

Jon Gruden would be a great hire...

On the college level, we would have to hope he would be. He could come in and dominate or have back to back losing seasons and realize the college game is not for him. The fact that it could turn out that way and it could cost us 20+ million dollars or more is a huge risk IMO. I'd welcome the hire of Gruden. I am just not of the group who thinks he is a sure fire Saban smasher.

I wouldn't freak out if Bo were the next UT coach, not sure I'd promote him for the position though.

A game like this is what kept Kevin Steele from being hired as DC apparently.

This is a reputation killer for coaching searches.

It's a pretty sure concept that if you don't want to be considered for any openings, just get slaughtered your last game of the season.

The Huskers sure don't look like a #12 team....63 points given up at the end of the 3rd qtr? And we thought our DC was bad.

He has never had a losing season at Nebraska. His teams have finished 1st or tied for 1st in their division 4 out of 5 seasons. He makes less than 3 million a year and they play good defense. He has coached in the SEC as a DC at LSU.

:eek:lol:You HAVE TO BE kidding

He was and still is. Wisconsin would be approaching the century mark on us.

Wisconsin isn't near as bad as their record indicates this year. They've lost 5 games by a combined total of 19 points and three of those went into OT.

More points than Sal gave up in any game and Nebraska plays "good defense"?

Nebraska fans will tell you they do NOT play "good defense".

I think Muschamp would be a good option as well. He has UF playing well and he did not ask for 5 years to get it done. I think he makes around 2.75 a year. I would like to add the relationships he has built in Florida to our recruiting. Not sure he would make a lateral move unless we offered big time money. With that said, I am not sure he would be worth 4 million + at this point in his coaching career.

Not to mention Muschamp grew up in Gainesville. He actually loves it there. Why would he leave?
