So what do y'all think happened with the Gillian story? She had that surgery in that crazy mental institution, and she was just kind of out of it when Nucky came to see her, similar to the other girls it showed that had the surgery.
What was that surgery? What does it do to people? I'm sure there's a historical connotation to corrupt mental hospitals in the early to mid 1900's, but that part confused me.
I think you should. That’s a great show. Like @knox-townVOL said, they really screwed up by cutting it short, Ironically, so one of the best characters on Boardwalk could get his own series. Bobby Cannavale’s character was awesome.I watched the first episode last week, looking for something else to watch since i finished Sopranos. I may keep going with it.
I just thought that it was abrupt with who and how it ended. It made sense to me, I think people in general are just usually letdown with series finales . It probably would’ve helped if Vinyl had a longer run. I thought it was good too though.I don't think they really cut BE short, it was a logical ending and it went out still being an excellent show.
As for Vinyl, it was great. HBO was hurting at the time and it was just too expensive.

Boardwalk was running out of steam and beginning to reach imo. HBO usually errs on the side of going out on top...they don’t have many Dexters on their watch.Vinyl wasn’t great. It was good, but not great. Two or three more seasons of Boardwalk would have been much better.
Why would HBO have been hurting? GoT was on top of the world by that point.
