Boardwalk Empire

I've watched every episode of Boardwalk and have enjoyed most of the seasons but I don't think it's been as entertaining as Games, and neither one are on the level of the Sopranos. The Wire is the only other HBO show in that class.

Disagree. Thrones is not only the best show HBO has ever made, it's the best show on TV.

This show doesn't have mass appeal entertainment value of GoT or Breaking Bad, but the writing and acting is every bit as good.

I think they branched things out too far, tried to follow too many storylines that were very distantly related.

The time warps didn't work for me either. Still a good watch, but the show seemed to begin to decline after Darmody was killed off.

You don't like how they showed young Nucky meet the Commodore, etc? That's been my favorite stuff this season.

I agree with n_huff that they should have given Rossetti a second year. That guy was an awesome bat **** crazy character. He definitely added to the show. Very interested to see how this shakes out. I have a feeling Nucky meets his demise.

I think it should have by all logic began it's decline after Darmody went down, but instead it was a stroke of pure genius adding Gyp Rosetti the next season. His character was so great that no one took the time to miss Jimmy. Rosetti was straight up terrifying. Ohen Slater was a great character too, I wish they had shown a little more of his hand to hand combat skills.

The show started it's decline last season. Valentin Narcisse wasn't a good enough character to replace the holes that were left.

Wow - what a shyte ending - very disappointed.

You could tell this was about 3 seasons of material they had to cram into one.

I thought it was an awesome ending. No one saw that coming, and that's pretty great considering it seemed terribly obvious Nucky was either going to sneak off and grow old or get shot down by Luciano's boys. It wouldn't be justice for Luciano to "get" Nucky.

My problem isn't with the ending, per se - it's with the lack of development that produced said ending....

How in the world can you say there was no development to it? For all he had done right by the series' end, he had wronged the Darmodys his whole life. The key point that would lead to his eventual death was when he gave Gillian over to the Commodore all those years ago.

So the actor who play Jimmy Darmody was interviewed a few months back and said he thinks that his son should kill Nucky. Apparently this was not a fluke, he was killed off the show because he was a total a**hole to work with.

Because they crammed too much into 8 episodes (HBO didn't even give them a full 13 like they should have).

Tons of loose ends and holes. For example, who were those two guys watching Nucky on the boardwalk? What's the deal with Margaret? No additional hints or clues about kid Darmody? No Capone trial?

The whole thing just felt crammed and rushed because it clearly was.

I freaking love this show, btw - it didn't get the fully fleshed out ending it deserved.

More of an indictment on HBO that the show's creator/writers.

I think it wrapped up just fine. Those guys on the boardwalk were Luciano's guys, Margaret made it big on Wall Street, what happened to Capone is fairly common knowledge, and the Darmody thing has been covered.

The only loose end I could tell was what became of Eli's son.

Everyone else paid for their sins, but Will Thompson appears to have gotten away with murder with no repercussions whatsoever.

I really enjoyed the first season and a half. Then they started getting into these weird flashback things, and ghosts, and messengers ... and the show went to crap.

Probably did me a favor killing him off because otherwise I'd have held out hope the show would get good again.

The first season and a half??

Yeah you missed pretty much everything that was great about Boardwalk Empire.

I don't think this is correct. They were some sort of police I think. The one guy showed Nucky a badge and if you read the guy's lips he's introducing himself and he says "we'll get you to a hospital"
