Bob’s call

If you had any passion for UT you would have been at the game instead of complaing about Kesling. Greatest day for Tennessee football in quite awhile and this your complaint. Go and continue with your crappy day and attitude I choose to scream Buck Fama
Immature post on your part. Well some of us were not able to attend due to many reasons and even if we did have the ability to go didn’t have the financial ability to pay 500-1500 a ticket which how much they were going for on some online ticket brokers.

And it is mature to wine about a football commentator,

Another bash Bob thread. We all miss JW, for good reason. The way he described the game was special. JW had so many catch phrases that are taken off the table for Bob to use. Anytime I hear a broadcaster use “Give him 6.”, I think of JW and that the rip-off artist isn’t fooling anyone. Same goes for many others that JW immortalized while he was becoming a broadcast legend.

I don’t need a sportscast to generate excitement over a Vol ballgame.

Believe it or not I have never listened to Kesling call a game. Sirius/XM had the Volnetwork broadcast on this morning. So I listened to the second half. It was not at all what I expected based on all the negative I’ve read about him on this board. His excitement level when the Vols did something good was there and his call of the action was accurate (since I had watched the game I know what had happened before he called it). The areas of improvement I would have enjoyed are two simple items. Tell us what type of play (pitchout, sweep, dive, slant, wheel route, post, out pattern, etc) and where the play is going (is it a run to the left, up the middle or to the right - same with passes). And keep us continually informed of the progress the ballcarrier is making, to build suspense. On the interception by Bama that got overturned by PI, he said it was intercepted at the goal line, then suddenly the runner was at the 50, then suddenly at the 20.

His catch phrases are flat and monotone (eg, “ what a turn of events”, “what a game”, “to the checkerboards”) but overall I was just fine with the call.

That job appears to be unique in that you really can’t lose it due to poor performance/mediocre talent. He’s there until he retires unless he were to be removed for something outside the booth.

this sounds sarcastic in the beginning but not so much in the end; some couldn't be there. A lot of people would have been there if given a choice.

My real point was the constant crapping on Kesling, there is alot of ways to avoid listening to Bob

Dude, that is hilarious. I am having a wonderful day thank you very much and I don’t have a crappy attitude about anything. I dunno maybe I long for a call from my home town radio guy that will last through the decades and will live as long as the memories of this game. I long for the days of “No Sir Eeee!!!!!!” Or any of the other multitude of calls in the link below. That was a huge win… but Bob missed a huge opportunity to cement himself with history…
