Bob Gilbert on Finebaum

If you've ever read much of his stuff, he's as hypercritical of Tennessee football as you could possibly be. That's not to say that he doesn't have valid points, but he's going to run the program into the ground every chance he gets. He used to absolutely crush Fulmer and seemingly hasn't been happy since Johnny Majors was forced out 20 years ago.

Yep. He is as old school as is left from the bygone era. I was surprised to hear him on Finebaum. It was pretty funny actually. Finebaum was pretty speechless at old Bob letting loose. I don't think he was expecting it at all.

Sad to say but the truth is hard to hear sometimes.

Players from La tech have said same things so when their is smoke their is fire..

Administration at UT is horrible on all levels and the clean house thing....go for it, all but Hart, give him a chance to see what he can do.

He used to be a sports writer for the Maryville Daily Times and has been upset with UT ever since they got rid of Majors.

He used to have a syndicated column that would run in our local paper during the 1990's every week. It was amazing how this old turd could find something negative to write about UT even during these times, but he did it on a regular basis.

I could not believe that this was the same Bob Gilbert who wrote "Neyland: the Gridiron General", which is a very good read that I can recommend.

The comments from the La Tech players are meaningless. Players are always going to think they're in a better place than where they were with the last coach. If you don't believe me, see the comments from Sentimore about Nick Saban.

Fire the entire BoT just to turn the football program around - sure, that's the main concern of the BoT for major state university. Ridiculous.

I'm also shocked, shocked I tells you that Finebaum and a guest exaggerated the negativity of a situation. Unheard of for his show...

It's his backdoor plan for firing the governor.

Finebaum is a Finebaum fan. He's made a good living just stirring up crap about whatever program is in dire straits at the moment.

Finebaum is the Jerry Springer of SEC/ College Football talk radio shows. I don't know if he truly is a fan of anything other than making money. Even in his columns, he gives a lot more credit to those who are winning and dogs out those who are losing. This often results in good ratings for him.

Painted a bleak picture of UT football. Among the highlights:

- La Tech was glad to be rid of Dooley

- Administration at UT is horrible on all levels

- The only way for UT football to get back on track is to completely clean house... i.e. Dooley, Hart, Board of Trustees, etc...

- He also made some comment to the effect of "a program I used to love..."

He did not sound like a happy man. I'm as down as anyone about the football season, but the only way to get back on track is to fire anyone involved with the AD?

Not the first time I heard this-----before Hart. About the rest of the crew; though. And now Hart.

Although Gilbert may be right since it wouldn't take a genius to see but he is a complete tool. I don't know when he supposedly "loved" the Tennessee program. I've never heard him say anything positive about the Vols.

Sounds extreme, but who all knew about this 6-year 5-million dollar buyout deal?

Finebaum wasn't surprised - that's precisely why he had BG on.

It was a crushing interview of the UT program

What? It was only "crushing" if you missed the lunacy. Firing Dooley? Sure. Getting rid of the entire Admin. + BoT? Asinine.

Gilbert was an AP writer and used to have column for the Daily Times in Maryville for many years. The guy was terrible and always had an axe to grind. Honestly had no idea the hack was still alive?
