Bob Knight out at Texas Tech

He can now spend time with his grandchildren and enjoy the outdoors and not worry about the everyday struggles of coaching

yeah, I just saw that about 30 minutes ago... I can't understand why he wouldn't finish the season. Don't start what you can't finish. TT is 12-8 right now, Bob Knight just got his 900th win, and he feels like he has accomplished all of his career goals. Thats all fine that he has accomplished what he has, but you DO NOT quit on your team halfway thru the year

No doubt he was one of the greatest coaches of all time. Id say he will spend all his time fishing and hunting now.

If you dont have that fire anymore and you stay, you would be doing your team a great disservice. Theres more than what meets the eye certainly.

I agree with that point 100%, but I think that is something that he should have taken into consideration before the season started. Also to me, I just cant see Bob Knight without that fire lol.

I dont think its the end.

Maybe it had to do with another dispute with the Athletic Department.

I dont think Bob Knight knows anything other than Basketball, hes the Bear Bryant of Basketball.

Weeks after Bryant retired,he died.

I sadly believe the same could happen to Knight

This is pretty surprising for me. I knew Knight would be leaving soon, but I didn't think it would be in the middle of the season. :eek:hmy:

Hopefully Pat Knight is a better recruiter than Bobby (doubtful). I think the General scared off the top talent. If he had great athletes to teach his system to, I doubt that he would've resigned yet.

On a side note, I go to TTU and our president, John Whitmore, just resigned too (but not effective immediately). It's kind of strange that this would happen at the same time.

I live in Lubbock, I'm not a huge TTU fan, but I keep up with local sports, and happenings. This comes to me and all my friends who are huge TTU fans, as a shocker!!!!

No, this is the end of Knight's coaching career. Most people here in Lubbock saw it coming (just thought it would be the end of the season or next season). I think Hat is right in that Knight has just had enough. In his mind, it's just time to turn the job over to his son and go fishing and hunting and hang out with the grandkids.

As far as disputes within the athletic dept. go, I haven't heard of any rumors yet, but I guess that could be a factor. It's true Knight is a great basketball mastermind, but I don't think he's going to find himself lost without it. He's 67 years old and just wants to retire and take it easy.

Would you say that is a Wichita State shocker...or more of a "my wife's gay" shocker?

will they at least keep Knight's "repair your divots or be shot" signs that are posted on TTU's golf course?
