No he won't, he is terrible. Penn State has been better since he left and UT will be better now that he has left. John Jancek was a better defensive coordinator and did reasonably well under Jones.

I think it was designed to confuse the wide receivers by making them think that we couldn't play defense. Then, they were able to remove all doubt by running right past them. It was a heck of defensive scheme. Psychological prevent defense?

It will be really interesting to see what happens there. If his defense finishes in the top 3 in the West next year we’ll know our defense problems were 100% on Jones. It wouldn’t surprise me either.

Shoop is able to do more with less.

The talent that the Vols had on defense Shoop had never worked with so much so he didn't know how to handle it.

He figured they were good enough to play base defense and still win. That was his down fall. When he stopped running plays on defense and just played base we got out formationed. He was playing checkers on a chess board.

Exactly. The DC should have input as to who will be working alongside him on that side of the ball. Instead Butch wanted to put random pieces together. Not exactly recipe for chemistry success.

I would take Mississippi State at this point, if I had to. Mississippi State is pretty stacked as far as personnel, 9 coming back on both sides of the ball. They could pretty much play with anyone this year.

Which is going to be interesting is, if MS does better than Florida next year.

I think he'll do fine there. Moorhead seems like an offensive guy and will allow Shoop to bring in his own style of defense.

I think Butch was so accustomed with Janek's playing style that he wanted to call similar plays.
