I was listening to Sports Talk last week and it was discussed why Bobby Knight was not going to be coaching at Texas Tech next year and they were contemplating the reason was that he could be coming to Tennessee. Obviously, this would be a stretch. But how would the Vol Nation feel about Bobby Knight setting up his School of Hard Knocks on the Hard Wood at TN? What would be the pros and cons of such a controversial basketball icon leading the Orange Charge or being charged in TN?

I'd be all about it. I wanted him to come a few years ago. Hell yah. Bring him on in.

What about his temper? Anybody care about that? The man can coach, I'll give him that, but I'm not too high on the way he has conducted himself.

Maybe thats what we need. A coach with some real fire.

Man, he really crossed the line. You gotta use the intensity to motivate your players. Make them push themselves, don't choke them.

No. I can't stand Bobby Knight. He's one of the biggest hypocrites in sports. I would not want him associated with UT.

best men's coach?? hardly. He MAY be in the top ten right now of active coaches but even that's a stretch for me. I'll pass on the idiot.

There is no way ADMH hires Bobby Knight. He is not a fit in any form or fashion. MH believes that a HC of any sport has to be an Ambassador for the University. Bobby Knight is an ambassador for himself. This AIN'T even a good rumor.

I don't think that would work. Bobby gets mad when you play poorly and don't execute. Just think about the temper tantrum that he would throw watching our team play! It wouldn't be pretty and wouldn't be safe.

He wouldn't fit because he is a walking time bomb that is just a lawsuit looking for a place to be litigated. We live in a politically correct world and BK is about as far from PC as you can be, we have enough problems with the B-ball program without hiring that chowderhead!

I think our athletic program is very much about image as well as the Ws and Ls. We try to kick butt and project quality and class as much as possible, and as much as I like some of the things BK does well, I just do not hink (or think) he would fit the image of the University of Tennessee.

Some people out there like him, Check out what the latest from POSTGAME has to say, "There is so much college basketball to talk about and so little room, so I promise to bore you with more frequent postings from here on out. But let me finish with a win for my hero, The General, Coach Bobby Knight. Yes, my coaching hero. You don't like it? Then you don't know anything about basketball. Sorry, I'm just telling you what others didn't want to hurt your feelings with. What Coach Knight has done with Texas Tech is nothing short of amazing. The Red Raiders double OT upset of Kansas is only their second win against the Jayhawks in 17 tries. After the game, Coach Knight was Coach Knight. He downplayed the 3 point shot, despite it being the key to TT's win, and talked about the fact that his team should have won the game at about 4 different times prior to the second OT. The school from Lubbock Texas is ranked boys and girls. How many coaches could do that?"

I don't know, We've had success with military type guys before, General Neyland was a dominating and disciplining personality, I'm sure he was not one given to political correctness. So, we've tried nice, let's try spice. I'm not saying it should be Knight, but if we make a change, lets get us a SOLDJIAH! (soldier).

Down through the years he's been an embarrassment to himself, his family, and the game of basketball. He's even had a run-in with someone since he's been at Tech, something about a salad-bar, does anyone remember?

We should pass on Bobby. He's a great coach but a scandal waiting to happen.

I'm going to give you a pass on mentioning Coach Neyland in the same paragraph as Bobby Knight.

If it happens again, I'll have to find out where you live. ;)

I'm not an advocate of BK in the fact that he is a miracle worker and has done everything right in his career. He definitely got into some situations at IU that as a professional and a representative of his university, and employer, he should have showed restraint. I believe that regardless of your occupation, you are an ambassador of your orginization, be it professional or athletic environments. IU basically let BK build himself into something that he thought was invinceable and above reproach and question. They should have nipped that when they had control of him. BK is basically a raw form of Coach K at Duke. Has all the talent and knowledge, but not quite the amount of class. Since he does not make the news as he did at IU, I am assuming he has improved and is showing restraint that he has never had before. He is human, and in light of having to revive his career, maybe he changed some things personally. As it stands, we don't really have a men's program to brag highly of, other than being a crowd of raw talent no one else has been able to develop. Maybe BK is not the answer, but he, or someone similar, will definitely be better than what we have.

I believe we tried a SOLDJIAH once, and Don Devoe went the way of the 8track tape. If we're gonna make a change, and I'm not ready to show Buzz the door just yet, lets at least make an attempt at having the foresight and patience to find THE NEXT great coach. Not one of the former ones.

If our AD was half as bad as you guys we 'd never get a good coach "Dont bring Bobby he's got too much baggage" Fine I never wanna hear anyone that posts on this board that Bobby shouldnt be hired then go and get mad because we dont win. Bobby is proven himself and has payed for what he done. Yes the man has a temper but he IS TOP 5 COACHES EVER. If you argue that you know nothing about basketball and should go ahead and throw yourself into the local river that is near your house. :D But seriously, Bobby has exactly what we need. A coach whos offense and DEFENSE is time tested and phenominal......he's took a team down in TEXAS (unofficial football capital of the world) and made a basketball team out of them. I guarantee you naysayers would stop once he came in and got us into the tournament......how many people would that put in big Thomson-Bowling? You couldnt get me to pay to watch our current team I can go 20 minutes down the road and watch East TEnnessee State and they are almost as good. You put Bobby on the bench and let him set up his program and me AND nearly everyone else would pay to watch that man and his team finally win some games and bring some prestige to our program. I love you guys but yall are crazy!!!!!!!!! :peace2:
