Sources close to the athletic dept (attorneys that put together the financials) have indicated that Knight has already contacted UT about the job and did so on the last go round when Buzz got the job. Indications are that Knight got passed on b/c of the controversy surrounding him at the time. He's had several years to wipe the slate clean now and has turned the TT program around. Bottom line is he's chompin' at the bit for some reason...that's the part of the story that has been left out. You guys know I don't post much, so don't think this is made up. :good:

Given the list of candidates in the threads over the last few days, I'd say he'd be my first choice.

Sure, there's risk involved. But heck, our program could use a little "shaking up," if you know what I mean. :naughty:

It would give us a new image that we desperately need. We need new attitude.

I must preface this by saying there probably isn't a bigger Bob Knight fan in East Tennessee. However, given that a large portion of our fan base found Kevin O' Neill to be hard to stomach, I don't know how well Coach Knight would sit with the large number of sanctimonious prudes in our midst.

If we got Knight, then we would have two coaches at Tennessee who will break Dean Smith's record. Talk about putting TN on the BB radar! Bobby has learned his lesson and has had time to redeem himself. He's going to end his career with the best record in basketball and he is not going to take the chance of messing that up now. He will bring his ledgendary status to TN basketball and KY may be standing in our shadow after it's all over. If Hamilton can pull this off he will be a genius. Hamilton just might be the best AD in UT history!

I would be for it but I don't see it happening.

`Twould be sweet to get Bobby Knight. This would pit the Rich against the Righteous among the UT Fanbase. Iwill always put my money on the money, when it comes right down to it.

However, I am pessimistic and downright cynical about who we will get. I think we should definitely put out feelers for guys like Knight, Majerus, and other 'big names'. If those indicate no interest, I would like (in order): Tom Crean, Bobby Lutz, and then I'm torn between Mike Anderson and Greg Marshall.
:twocents:

I'd love to see Coach Knight come here for several reasons. But why would he want to come here?

Knight would be gone in 4 years and this would be happening all over again. He's 65

He could be the pick of the rich and the righteous. The truly righteous would not condem him for his past, if he has repented, which he appears to have done. Need we be reminded that if we do not forgive, we will not be forgiven ourselves. As for the rich, they just say "Go win baby!

Yep...I'm with you guys. I haven't been to a men's game in 2 years, but would go to all I could if Knight was in the house. There is no better and more recognizable coach to ressurect our dying program...period! With Knight wanting to come to UT I think we may have wasted even more money on a search firm. The guy is calling us for crying out loud. As for being 65, who gives a rip!!! Bowden is like 97 or something. :rocks:

to ressurect our dying program...

Dying? Dude, we've got nothing but a rotting corpse. We don't need a resurrection, we need a reincarnation.

If anyone has a list of people more qualified than Knight for that type of change, I'd like to see it.

And I'm with you, we might not win 'em all, but you know that games would be a helluva lot more exciting with BK on the sideline! (or unpredictable, at least. . . .)

Bobby Knight will not come to Tennessee. If I'm wrong, I'll give everyone in this thread a VN dollar.

I think BK would come here. If he is in a postion to get out of his contract at TT, and we show interest in him, I think he'll make the move. I never knew TT had BB until he got there. He can make changes quick. He should be able to do the same here. Plus, he will move to a higher profile school and be back on top. Being 65, if he did only stay here 5-7 years then retire, we would have moved our program up the ladder and even though we'd be searching again, it would be different than any of the other searches in previous years. We would be looking to fill a vacancy in a winning program. But, at present, we don't have a lot to offer except good facilities that are going to improve with thec practice facility, and a lot of room for improvement. So, the list should be long and we should get the right coach.

Bobby Knight is Pat Summit's brother......I mean look at the two.....both firey and commands respect from the players....if the players mess up.....BOOM.....both of them are on the players butts.....the difference between the two is......Pat can control her actions......so I say bring him in......the thuggish players we get are real good players I say.....but don't know how to run the plays because in HS I'm sure the plays were grafted around them.....Coach Knight will teach them Team B-Ball cause that's what they need.....

I wonder if BK is willing to take a few more losses on his record until he could turn things around?

He did not wait around at Texas Tech. He took those losers and won 20+ games his first season there.

To Bobby Knight, basketball is not about the individual players, but about the team and execution. He can take 5 good to average players that play as a team and beat 5 great individuals any day.

If the remaining Vols players all return, he would definately win 20+ games and take the Vols to the NCAA tournament.
