I think BK would come here. If he is in a postion to get out of his contract at TT, and we show interest in him, I think he'll make the move. I never knew TT had BB until he got there. He can make changes quick. He should be able to do the same here. Plus, he will move to a higher profile school and be back on top. Being 65, if he did only stay here 5-7 years then retire, we would have moved our program up the ladder and even though we'd be searching again, it would be different than any of the other searches in previous years. We would be looking to fill a vacancy in a winning program. But, at present, we don't have a lot to offer except good facilities that are going to improve with thec practice facility, and a lot of room for improvement. So, the list should be long and we should get the right coach.
I agree with you GVF. BK doesn't have lots of years of coaching left but he has enough time to turn our program around in time for another high profile coach who would be more willing to take the UT job when the program reaches another level. The question is: Is the UT administration willing to take a bold step like offering a coach like BK an opportunity to coach at UT? BK is a proven winner. It seems like he has turned the corner as far as his on-the-court demeanor. There is no doubt he can make the necessary changes in a struggling basketball program. As VolFreak said, "you either love him or hate him". The thing I like about BK is he stresses TEAM basketball and not individual basketball as others have mentioned earlier in this thread. Another thing he expects or I should say demands is Discipline. "Team basketball" and "discipline" has been lacking in the men's basketball program. You have those two ingredients and you have the makings of a successful program.
