In the position we're in, I suppose we just might have to take a chance on him.

People keep saying he is only a 2 year player because he is JUCO. But, he only played one year of JUCO ball didnt he? What exactly is his eligibility? One year and Oklahoma and one year at JUCO?

That's right. 1 year at Oklahoma, and a year in JUCO....that leaves him with 2 more years of eligibility.

That's great news and thanks for the link Freak. Landing Maze would really add to the depth at PG and make us more comfortable with someone running the offense with a taste of college ball before Daniel West is handed the keys to the offense.

Hopefully Maze is excited about the opportunity for immediate playing time in Knoxville, not to mention the fact that Maze fits in perfectly with Pearl's up-tempo system.

Great news ! I like our chances. Maze sounds like he would fit Pearl's style very well. He may of had a few issuse but we can hope he's matured since then. Be a VOL young man.

Maze's past scares me but so does having to depend on J.P Prince and a true freshman to run the point next season. I'm hopeful that we get him because it really doesn't appear that there are any better options out there.

Not many JUCO players are able to walk into a system with guarenteed playing time and a possible starting position where they are NEEDED, let alone on a championship contending team. If that doesn't excite Maze, then I don't know what will. I have a great feeling we will land him purely based on the situation that he would be in if he comes to Knoxville.

I agree. Even if he does have problems he'll only be here for 2 years. We need a smart PG that makes good decisions. We'll see if Maze can fill the place. I think he'll commit pretty soon after his visit.

I agree with you on his past issues, but he will have to understand that Bruce will not tolerate any of it, and this past week is a great example of what will happen if he cannot stay focused and out of trouble. He is without the best option for us and one of the only good true PG's left out there.

"Every team I have ever played for likes to run,'' said Maze, who as a high school receiver and free safety ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash. "Oklahoma slowed me down, and it didn't really fit my style.''

Pearl should have no trouble convincing this kid that UT will let him run and play his game, while UK would slow him down. UK will have to somehow convince him that they will start running next year. Pearl can just pop in the video of any game.
