Boise State kicker receiving death threats

I'm going to be an A$$...............but can you kick a 30 yrd FG? with that on the line?

Can you make a 5 foot putt for the US Open? Pressure is huge! Pressure makes fools out of ALL of us at one time or another!

I don't agree with the death threats, but if I was a senior in college and receiving a free ride, and in return it was my duty to kick FGs, then yeah, I think I could hit it. He's a senior, that's four years of nothing but kicking a ball everyday. Plus, whatever HS experience he has. For a senior kicker, anything under 40-45 yds should be automatic.

I agree with EVRYTHING...until "anything under 40-45 yrd should be automatic"

I'm sure you have a job and know what pressure is. But can you imagine THAT pressure???? I'm not sure many can. I had to make par on the 18th hole at Bay Hill to qualify to play in the 1996 US Open. I made Double Bogey. I know what pressure is in that situation. It is not that easy. I feel for the kid. He tried the best he could, and that is all one can ask for!

29 yrds???? yea....should have been made....but not "easy" based on the situation!:hmm:

I understand the pressure part. Definitely more stressful than my job. He got 2 tries though. Again, his only job on the team is kicking the ball. He is a senior. I bet if you had played the 18th at Bay Hill dozens of times a day for four years straight, you would've eagled.

Class isn't something you either have or you don't. People making death threats to a college kid because he missed a couple field goals obviously do not have it. Yes, it cost the team a possible shot at the BCS title game. Possible shot. Get over it. Burn some mattresses or something.

The best of the best thrive in moments like these. It's what makes 'em superstars...athletic immortals, if you will. Joe Vols played under intense pressure while hurlin' 90+mph heaters for Vandy during the SEC championship. He never flinched. Brass plums.

Would love to get his thoughts on the subject.

Not the death threats, but the scrutiny.

He got two tries. Missed both. He's going to take some heat.

How many millions of dollars did those missed field goals cost BSU? How many people get killed over money every day? It 'aint right, morally or legally, but this is an everyday occurrence.

I'd like to know how many since it's an everyday occurrence. How many people are killed because they made a mistake that cost their company money?

If Nevada didn't have short goal posts, are we having this conversation? It looked to me as if the first missed FG was purely a judgment call by the refs.

Sorry dude but might be one of the worst posts I've ever read on VN and that's saying alot!

Guys are in the NFL that has been kicking for 15-20 yrs counting high school and getting paid huge $$ and miss key FG's every weekend. So by your thinking should every pitcher go out and throw a no hitter each game? I mean that's all they ever do is pitch?

If it's one then it's more than I think. Just looking for an example of a person in a legit business in the US getting murdered because they made a mistake that cost their company money.

Money makes people do things that they would never think of. When the bottom falls out, people can lose rational thinking. They may not actually get their hands "dirty," but they have the means of matters being taken care of. Legit business included.

This just isn't a Boise issue...probably every school at some point has had at least one moron do this after a devestating loss. I don't think anyone in touch with reality is questioning if this could or has happened here...it's like illegal recruiting, it happens everywhere.

how many people making the threats lost money (besides to a bookie)?

I always hated when people got mad at kickers. They really should be mad at the team that got the kickers in that position in the first place.
