Not as much a defense of the BCS as it is an attack on those programs.
Chris Peterson is a great coach and what they have done at Boise the last several years is impressive.
That said, beating one good team a year doesn't mean you should get national title status. That's earned on weekly basis by teams in a major conference.

Thank the lord we place invisible limitations on these small schools who thank they can crash the party just because of one or two good regular season wins. Imagine how pathetic it would be if we allowed schools like Butler to play in the NCAA tournament. Yeah, they may steamroll through the Horizon League, but what chance in heck would they have if they had to play teams like... let's just throw out... Syracuse, K-State, Michigan State, Pitt, Wisconsin, and Florida over the span of a week or two. I laugh just thinking of it and it angers me that some people think they actually belong.
Face it. Boise does nothing but beat 99% of the teams that have been placed in front of them the past five years. Whoop-tee-doo. Nice conference out there. Who cares that they routinely attempt to schedule top tier foes and beat them handily before their weak conference beat downs start. Really, what did a #15 ranked Georgia, a #6 Virginia Tech, a #14 Oregon, and a #12 ranked Oregon have to win by manning up and beating a top 10 Boise State. It's not like teams ranked that high have a shot to play for National Titles.
It makes me sick how teams like Boise are always over-hyped and over-ranked. Just like ND they are always ranked high in the preseason thanks to a schedule that features one or two difficult games and 10 chumps. I never check Boise's final record but I'd imagine that they always choke and finish around 7-5. Now if they'd actually stretch some success over an extended period, get into and win some non-NC BSC games, and constantly out perform good BSC schools on the same field maybe we can talk.
Until then get in line behind Butler basketball, Cal-State Fullerton Baseball, the American League West, and the 1980 U.S. Men's Hockey team. Just because you can beat the best, doesn't make you the best.
