Bowl possibilities (Merged)

UT has been getting the shaft of late with bowl bids. I would expect the Chick/peach bowl if UT is lucky otherwise its the Music City Bowl.

I really don't understand the comment about us getting the shaft lately. We've been in bowl games worthy of our seasons' performances lately, and we've usually been getting pounded by our opponents in those "shaft" bowl games of late.

'04 Cotton Bowl- Very Fair

'03 Peach Bowl- In the top 10 of the BCS and fell to the Peach. We were screwed.

'02 Peach Bowl-Average season equals average bowl.

'01 Citrus Bowl- Should have been BCS at-large over UF.

'00 Cotton Bowl- Another bowl that we deserved to play in.

'99 Fiesta Bowl- BCS at-large, didn't get shafted.

'98 Fiesta Bowl- NC game.

It appears that the only time we have really gotten "the shaft" since '98 is when we were ranked in the top 10 of the BCS and dropped all the way to the Peach Bowl.

'03 Peach Bowl- Considering the fact that we got pummeled in this game, I think the problem is that we were severely overrated, not that we got screwed by the bowl selections. I really think it's comical that many people gripe that we got screwed by having to go to the Peach Bowl two consecutive years without noting that we also got our butts kicked both times.

We may have been overrated, you won't get any argument from me about that, but it is absurd for a team that is ranked 9th in the BCS to go to the Peach Bowl.

I guess the bowl selection committees knew something that the poll voters didn't.

Maybe, I am not debating the fact that we were overrated, because I think that we were. I am debating the fact that a 9th ranked team in the BCS, whether it was Tennessee or not, fell all the way to the Peach bowl.

It's pretty simple.

Ga Tech beats Georgia and we are NO WORSE than the Chik-Fil-A Bowl (There is no Peach Bowl anymore).

Two SEC teams in the BCS, it would be hard not to be in the Outback, and NO WORSE than the Chik-Fil-A.

One team in the BCS and Georgia beats Georgia Tech, and Music City Bowl is a posibility.

Cotton is a slim chance, depending on what happens with LSU/Arky and Arky/Florida.

First of all, it will always be the Peach Bowl just like Memphis will always be Memphis St.:) Dead on with everything else.

I've been looking at it, and I think the Bowl Possibilities come down to this....

IF Florida wins this weekend against Florida St, I think the SEC gets two teams in the BCS. The winner of the SEC CG and either a two loss Florida, Arkansas or LSU.

There are too many two-loss teams and those three are ranked too high not to get into the BCS. Cal's three losses means the Pac-10 won't get two in. The Big Ten can only have two in. The loser of the Big12 will have atleast three losses. I don't think that the Big East gets two in and the ACC Champ loser will have three losses.

With two teams in the BCS, I have a VERY hard time seeing a 3 loss Tennessee team any lower than the Outback/Cotton Bowl.

Don Tello says we are use to getting the shaft in bowl games. If a 9-3 TN team goes to the Liberty or Music City that is a joke. We can only hope we don't have to go back to the house of he** (AKA-The Georgia Dome). That place has not been very nice to us. Hopefully Outback will take us this year. I need a Florida vacation and not a one day trip to these other places.

ESPN'S updated projections are out. Maisel has us playing Va Tech in the Peach Bowl and Schlabach has us playing Wake Forest in the Mullet City Bowl.

What would you prefer hat, Chicken Bowl vs VT/GT/whomever or Outback Bowl vs PSU? I know neither are acceptable, but, if you had to choose, for a good game, for visiting, for watching, etc.?

I'd rather play Penn State. That matchup will get more attention than a game with any of the ACC schools.

Yeah, I'd much rather play PSU. I also wouldn't mind to play OU in the Cotton Bowl, but that will likely go to LSU or Aubbie.

i think in the first peach bowl, we weren't overrated against MD. we just didn't show up. i think the team could've cared less about the Peach and just was flat...and as a result, got their butts kicked, deservedly so. in the 2nd one against Clemson, i think we were overrrated, and again, also came out flat and got our butts kicked deservedly so.

what were LSU and Miami ranked in last year's Peach bowl again?
