What do you think would happen if sports fans boycotted college sports until there was a playoff in football, and players were fairly compensated?

It's obviously far-fetched, but college sports are so ridiculous now it's hard to watch. All the university presidents and bowl committees are lining their pockets off of others talents.

The NCAA is a joke, so why not just start from scratch?

I do not think the fans could or would ever get mad enough to boycott but the players may, as mentioned on HBO last night, there was almost a sit in during the elite 8 one year. This would be huge, the disruption, the angry fans, the mad ad execs, and could actually get real change. It is not right that everyone makes cash on the games except the kids. yes they get a free education but for real....Player boycott would shake some things up.

An email sent to my friends...

Greetings,

If you are on this list, you have proven yourself to be a leader and an avid college sports fan.

I believe we can all agree that the NCAA system is broken. The current NCAA system is designed to line the pockets of college presidents, BCS & Bowl Committees and corporate fat cats. There is not a fair or equitable disbursement of the money that is generated from these college athletes. Those who are in favor of the status quo are living behind a facade of academics before athletics.

The NCAA has continually proven that it is not capable of properly enforcing it's rules on the member institutions; rules that are outdated in today's world. .

Given the amount of scrutiny that the NCAA and member institutions have faced recently in regards to recruiting scandals and violations, I believe now is time to take action. Now is time to create a system that properly rewards those whose talents we love to watch. Now is the time we band together and take action to make college sports even better.

What I am proposing is a grass-roots organization to gain media attention and support to eventually fix a broken and corrupt NCAA system. Our goals will be:

- Create a college football play-off
- Disband the BCS
- Find a way to fairly compensate all college athletes
-Adapt antiquated NCAA rules

Is this idea far-fetched? Absolutely, but I firmly believe that if we create a strong enough grass-roots organization and actually take action we can succeed. Would you be willing to give up one year of fun, for a lifetime of enjoying a system that is more enjoyable and more competitive? Are you willing to not watch college sports for one year, to be part of a cause that is bigger than yourself?

If you answered yes to any of these questions and want to be part of my new grassroots organization, please respond. I want to make a website, and gain as much attention and support as possible.

Thank you,

I know I'm in the minority, but collegiate athletes are already fairly compensated. Tuition, room, board, books, travel, notoriety... While the future doctors who will mend their injuries, lawyers who will help them sue their former team's owner, and others who will ultimately contribute to the wealth they'll earn (then lose by the time they're 45, forcing them into bad commercials or worse) pay out the nose for a quality education, these young men and women get the benefit of tutors, aids, special study areas, and all on little or no money.

I'm fine with that. I am glad that athletes have this opportunity. I enjoyed the things I got to do in college because of UT's high level of athletic performance while I was there.

Now if you start talking remuneration, I believe we need to just go ahead and separate athletics from the university level and turn them into a glorified minor league. I really don't care how much money these kids bring in, they knew how much they'd be paid ($0) when they walked through the door. Paying students to attend a university - unless the sum total of their scholarships exceeds the costs to attend - is folly that I can't stand behind. Paying them to be minor league athletes is another thing altogether.

Its 74 degrees in College Station today. Do we need to compare SAT scores next?

U are trying to compare College Station to Newport Beach.

I am not concerned with what you think of me. I know my buddies and I are smart enough to not get crushed at a bonfire.

Then you can't complain about the BCS or NCAA.

This is assuming u do currently.

Looking at the current Final Four, I'm going to say that while the BCS has flaws, it's certainly not the worst thing ever.

They get compensated. Its called a free college education

Do you want college to turn out to be like the NFL?

Agents, more money, higher ticket prices, lockouts

You would have to be a complete fool to want to do that to CFB

If they dont like a free education, then they can make the grades and pay for it themselves
