Do top 25 classes come with asterisks now?
19. California
20. Tennessee*
21. UTEP
*This doesn't really count because it's basically just one good player jacking up the ranking. The only other guys that matter are 3-star scrubs.
lol:
Not what I was saying.....so far Martin has brought nine players on campus and only two of them are solid players......Richardson and stokes.....next yr we have Hubbs, a guy with a lot of questions in AJ Davis and a guy I can't believe we signed as a back up pg... The comeback to my concerns is always the fact that our class is ranked 20 by scout. He has done good getting a star here and there but most of our recruits are not highly thought of And it is a concern moving forward.
I get your concerns, but this isn't UK where freshmen are expected to contribute right away. I don't know what happened to Chievous, but the jury is definitely still out on guys like Moore and Reese. They could well end up solid players. Edwards has been largely unimpressive, really hasn't contributed much. Yemi should also improve. All I'm saying is that what looks like 2 out of 9 right now could turn into 4 or 5 out of 9.
I'm not expecting UK type of production out of our players but this is college basketball where freshman can step right in and play and be contributing players to help our team. Sure there is time for them to improve but they werent really highly thought of so the odds are not great.
He has no position.
On that note, does anyone know what DID happen to Chievous? Does he just suck? Why isn't he playing?
Not as worried about the first class as I am about the second but I do feel he wasted too many scholarships that first yr that is sitting over there just taking up space.
I pretty much throw out both of their first class, although I wish Martin had saved some scholarships for his second class.Who did he waste on? Q and Miller? Which both will most likely be gone next year.
Here are some stats for you you since you think CCM's recruiting has been so bad...
I based this on the 7 players Pearl brought in his first 2 years and the 7 that CCM currently has.
PPG
39.5 (Pearl)
35 (Marin
RPG
16 (Pearl)
24.5 (Martin)
Average MPG for those 7 players were..
16 (Pearl)
16.5 (Marti)
Pearl had a nice 2nd class with Chism, Ramar, Duke, and Tabb...but we all know what happened with the ladder 3. Pearls 1st class was absolute garbage and worse than CCM's 2nd.

This isn't about pearl vs Martin.....pearl brought in a top notch class that didn't pan out and I think he did struggle with evaluations some. I think pearls last class was one of his best though with mcrae golden and Harris..
You can't compare stats though we had an awesome team pearls second yr and not as much was needed from our recruiting class. The only thong that matters is winning and Martin didn't bring in guys that could.help us reach that point right now.
So you're saying if Jajuan Smith or Chris Lofton go down an miss the whole season that team doesn't struggle some?
Sure we struggle some but I believe pearl could have squeezed us in the tournament.....I think that was pearls biggest strength being able to figure out how to win with the hand he was dealt.....the first yr would have been very difficult to win without them.
I like Martin just don't feel he has done the best job possible yet.
I haven't really seen him until today at halftime for the NCSU/Duke game... Now, it's only a few minutes, but I love to watch the guy talk. I know he screwed up here, but that's in the past. Guy knows basketball, and he is so passionate about it. He smiles whenever he talks, he loves basketball. I really hope he gets back into coaching soon, because college basketball needs Bruce Pearl.
Best job possible? No. It's funny if you read back a week before Martin was hired til say a week after he was hired...
The vibe is we are gonna be rebuilding, next year will be a dumpster fire, it'll be years before we are back etc etc etc
If you'd have told people will you take 19 wins year 1, a win or 2 from the dance. Year 2 you lose your best player for the season but win 18-19 games again and miss the dance again by a game or 2. Year 3 you'll have a roster with 4 potential NBA players and will likely be preseason top 15??????
Most people at the time would've said where do I sign???
I think Martin's biggest problems are 2 things with the fan base...1. He followed pearl who did what very few have done anywhere and that's turn a program around immediately and 2. Had too much success year one. I think this is the biggest issue he's having with fans. If we went 15-15 last year, beat thr teams he should've (AP, COC) but lost to thr UCONNS, and Florida's and finish 9 or 10 in thr SEC, what's the vibe now? He has us 8-6 without our best player, probably a 18-19 win season so progression, and a great looking 3rd year....I feel the vibe would be different.
Jmo
Stokes, McRae, Hubbs, Maymon, and even Richardson could one day have a shot at the NBA.I'm not the posters u are referring too, I thought we were a borderline ncaa team and we were last yr....
he has not exceeded my expectations and I'm a little disappointed in recruiting....saying four potential NBA players is a big stretch. I think winning next yr may spur us to better things which is why I think yr four is so important.
