This is the reason I am trying to sell my 4 tickets to the gm. I just don't think our guys are going to go up there and play hard after watching the Vandy gm. I don't want to watch another meltdown in Lexington like a couple of yrs ago. Im just ready to get this season over with and see what the new comers have to offer.

At the outset, I felt the Vols would finish anywhere from 5-7 to 7-5. But I'm not taking this last game for granted. The spread is only 4 points, we're on the road, and Kentucky might play their game of the year.

Cognizant of the fact that the Vandy loss was so deflating to some, I just thought I'd remind you that a loss to Kentucky is very possible. Don't let it spoil your joy.

A big turnaround from last season wasn't really very realistic. So I'm not going to fall apart if we drop the finale. Hope not. But it's possible. Just saying, "don't let it ruin your turkey sandwich leftovers." It's just a game for crying out loud.

Didn't most of the nation predict Tennessee would finish between 5-7 and 7-5?

This vols team couldn't get excited/prepared to compete in the Olympics let alone a meaningless game against Kentucky. If we lose I will not be surprised at all.

Based on everything I've seen, UK has a good shot at winning.

Actually, you know those guys are licking their chops and view us as ripe for the picking.

By now if anyone doesn't think ANY team we play has a very good chance of beating us then they haven't been following team 117 very closely.

If Butch Jones loses to Kentucky he may as well resign and call Gruden himself begging for him to take the job over ASAP and get Manning to retire now and be OC and then get the Ryan bros to leave the NFL and be co-defensive coordinators................

It will be a long off season of garbage like that on here if Kentucky beats us.

And Al Wilson as lb coach

What has UT shown that would make anyone expect a road win, regardless of opponent? I simply can't muster any give a damn about next week's garbage.

With ya gcb. This game will just be a good excuse to get together and have a cold one...or twelve.

This. I'll watch just to see if Dobbs can give a solid performance.

Based on QB play alone, I believe UK has a good shot at winning.
QB play on both sides, they have the dreaded mobile qb, our qb just isn't ready yet. He may be great eventually, but he is not ready for D1 ball.
Other thing that scares me is as bad as UK is, they are a match-up problem for Tennessee. We actually matched up much better w/ Vandy than we do w/ UK. They're D is really not that bad, and they are coached very well on that side of the ball. Combine that w/ our problems on O, and I just don't see us scoring much.
They shouldn't be able to score much on us either, but may be able to control the clock and shorten the game.
If it is close late, I just have zero confidence that our D can get a stop when it matters

I'd just like to see us come out and throw it all over the field. Open up the whole playbook. Let the kids play like it's their last game because...for some of the seniors it is.
GO VOLS!

Well, as we have seen this year any team coming to play in any game has a chance to win. It would be nice to have a win for the seniors though.
GO VOLS

Why would a loss to UK ruin anything? Our team is struggling, so what? Auburn went 3-9 last year and won no SEC games. I will be upset if we lose to UK but what good will it do? Do people honestly think it has any effect on the team by coming on VN and *****ing and complaining? No it doesn't. We have to wait and see how Butch and the staff are going to work out. I wish we were immediately better. All UT fans do. Unfortunately Rome wasn't built in a day.

the rate at which this happens would make it seem its some peoples job and they are working for a promotion

What "joy" are you talking about with respect to the state of the program right now except for recruiting?

A big turnaround from last season wasn't really very realistic.
Yes it was unless you are arguing that the last staff really wasn't that bad. Yes UT lost its best playmakers on O. It also returned most of its D players, the entire OL, and both top RB's. It was VERY realistic to expect a "better" coach to turn at least some of the deficiencies around. If UT struggled throwing the ball... that would be pretty understandable if they had improved elsewhere. Instead, we've seen a marginal improvement in rush yds per game (15 yds) and pretty much nothing else better.

In the meantime, this team and coaching staff allowed the most points UT has allowed in over 100 years, has been embarrassed by every good team they've played, and just lost to Vanderbilt twice in a row for the first time since before the Great Depression.

So I'm not going to fall apart if we drop the finale. Hope not. But it's possible. Just saying, "don't let it ruin your turkey sandwich leftovers." It's just a game for crying out loud.

That part is true. I'm not sure who is "falling apart" though. We are all pretty serious fans here or we wouldn't be here. But I certainly hope that most of us have a much bigger life outside of any kind of recreational pastime.

FWIW, I don't think there will be any reason to trust this staff's ability to coach at all if they lose to UK. UT hasn't lost to UK and Vandy in the same year since 1964. In a year of historic lows... that would possibly be the worst of them.

It would also mean that Jones had lost to at least two teams with considerably less talent than he has.

Oh, and did I understand correctly... UT has never lost 8 games in a season before?
