Bracketology discussion

he did have us a number 1 at a very short time... not sure what game it was before. he put back arizona like within next couple days
I know someone projected Tennessee as a #1 the week leading up to College Station. I remember discussing this with fellow fans at the time.

Maybe so, but I remember how over confident many folks were before we played them last March.
Those people were idiots then and idiots now. Countless people on here implored them to realize how good they were and how well they matched up with us without ZZ. Still can’t believe there were people on here cheering for FAU to beat FDU in the R32 🤦

Like I said before we could play a 4th game against a team in the R32. Kentucky, South Carolina, Alabama. That would be interesting.

It won’t be Kentucky because they won’t be in our region. Alabama or South Carolina could be, but they will both get better than a 7-seed, so we wouldn’t face either until the sweet sixteen at the earliest. Florida will also be better than a 7.

In a nutshell, there is no way this could happen.

My understanding, which may be incorrect and is largely based on principles that may have changed in the last decade, is that the NCAA really does try to avoid rematches as much as humanly possible. The linked article says that playing twice prevents a meeting before the Sweet Sixteen and you won't see a team you've played three times until the Elite Eight, and a really quick glance at last year's bracket seems to imply they were able to adhere to those principles.

I agree, not the round of 32 but in the E8 round. For example a 5 seed which appears for KY, USCe and a 4 Seed for Alabama. Conference tourney + 2 season match ups + E8.
We got to get there first but it is possible.

Even dropping the game yesterday we should be a one seed. Arizona lost to a bad USC team yesterday. I could see them sneaking UNC in there too. But if we win the SEC tournament I don’t see how you can deny Tennessee the one seed.

Lol. Lunardi's Bracketology headline on ESPN: Don't be surprised if Arizona cuts down the nets.

I would be. I would definitely be surprised.
