If we did play our way to a 5 seed. I see us as the top pick for the 12-5 upset.

If we finish that high, it will mean that we will have won almost all of our remaining games. Meaning we will be hot going into tourney time, so I'd take that Wisconsin/Clemson first weekend scenario.

The Vols are fortunate to be in a weak conference, there is no denying that. If the SEC were even half or three quarters as deep as the big east or acc, we'd all be singing a different tune.

Exactly. What's our record against the Big East again this year? I seem to remember that we've played two teams from that conference.

The same way they hammered that powerhouse UVA squad yesterday?

we joined the ACC? who knew. Teams play differently against conference foes than they do against ooc teams. They could probably beat auburn.

SI.com had us as a 8 or a 9 right now. Seeding can easily get better for us if we finish the regular season strong, and who knows, make a run at the SEC tourney. The team seems to be finally geling a little and Scotty is maturing a bit. Our RPI is plenty good even now. I know seeding is crucial, but maybe not being such a high seed will be beneficial as teams will over look us. The #2 seed hasn't worked out so far. Still a lot of ball to be played and no need to panic....

I think our realistic range on seeding it anywhere from 5-9 depending on season ending results.

Problem with SI's is that they dont just have us as an 8 seed, they have us playing UNC the next game

Question ? Which of the brackets posted are the hardest and in what order . I've gotta say it looks good for TN in this one .( which I realize means nothing )

The south looks the easiest .

The west next easiest .

The midwwest next easiest .

The east last and imo the hardest .

If it came down to this Cal. would be fit to be tied . But Bruce would be grinning from ear to ear .

Actually, he does a pretty good job of predicting who makes it in.

this is only correct if you view his site about 1 hour before the seeds are released. Don't mistake his February guesses with his dramatically re-aligned selection-day choices. He knows people, so he gets tip-offs; this is what he does and reading in to him more than, say, kidsbball.com, at this point is to make a pointless distinction.

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned "Arizona state at a #7?" and that's exactly the kind of thing that proves pre-selection lunardi as little more than bulletin board conversation fodder.

then how's this: they gave up 85 to a sorry offensive team in UVA? That's pathetic and bodes poorly for their chances.

It's funny how some have short memories. 2 weeks ago, most thought we were going into a tailspin towards the NIT.

Anyone who thought we were NIT bound at any point in the season was not paying attention.

Here's the link to the new bracketology...

I was surprised to see that we are still a 6 seed, if we are able to go 5-1 or win out and win the east and then hopefully atleast make the SEC Tourney Championship game, it would seem we could get up around a 4 seed or so. It looks like we would draw Clemson in the 2nd round probably which would be an intriguing game. After UT i am a fan of Clemson, just because of the fact one of my friends from middle school starts for Clemson so i enjoy watching him(Terrence Oglesby)but anyways. I would be very happy with the 6 seed were at but i defenitely think we can increase it. And considering the way that people have been writing this team off and saying NIT Bound i cant complain with were we are projected as of right now.

bradley central. that kid is bad a55. i wish he was at ut. we would have a real shooter. at this point i just want to make the tourney. the reality is we probably won't go far when we get there. but i would rather make the dance and not lose in the nit and be embarassed in march. i feel pretty good about our chances at making the tourney unless we just fall flat from here on out. but with this team who knows what will happen. a win vs. ky will certainly help.

If we have to face a #1 seed in the second round, I would gladly take North Carolina over Pitt, Oklahoma, and UConn. Any of the latter three would bury us. At least we would have a puncher's chance in a shootout vs. UNC.

Really? I would have to say UNC would be the biggest mis match for us. I would prefer to play OU over any of the other three. They seem like they will be the weakest #1 seed IMO.

Totally agree. And added to that challenge, the game would be in Greensboro as well, meaning a home game for the Heels. It's just a mock bracket anyway, but my main point is that SI had us as an 8 and ESPN at 5, which implies that we will be anywhere in between there. I still think we can improve that seed with the games we have left. It's been an up and down year and I'm trying to be positive, but at the same time realistic as well. The comittee is always screwy anyway, and hopefully won't put us in the death bracket again like last year. If we can peak now at the end of the year, we could surprise some folks as opposed to last year, when we peaked too early and stumbled into the tournament.

Oh well no one has an idea which bracket in this mock bracket would be the toughest:ermm:

nvm then

Virginia hasn't. They've been universally garbage this year.

Hat, I would argue that it was a terrible loss to UVA, but 20-4 in the ACC with road wins at Miami, at VT, a home blowout (to put it lightly) of Duke, and a couple good early season OOC wins against Illinois, South Carolina, and others have to mean something.

They mean Clemson, as usual, played well early. Now, as usual, they've hit the second half of the ACC season and collapsed.

Collapse? Far from it, yet. If you'll remember back to just last year they were in the ACC title game and gave UNC a run for their money (for the third time in the same season). This isn't meltdown.

Short of winning out, including the ACCT, this team can't do much to improve its seeding higher than a 3. 1 more regular season loss and a ACCT loss this season still constitutes a solid season and something to be happy about.
