Whats so good about Ohio State to give them a 3 seed? Is it just because they lost the majority of their games early on so they have had time to climb back up the rankings or is it something else (Like their star freshman)? I think we are a better team, we have better wins, and we have about the same record... but they are ranked in the top ten and a 3 seed. Please someone shed light on this for me

They lost Turner for a month and lost 3 games in that span (two of which they would have likely won easily had he been there). The voters recognize that.

Because they got Evan Turner back from injury and started rolling after that. Turner is considered by some to be the best player in the country and a top 3 pick in this year's NBA Draft.

Didn't see this before I posted but you are dead on. Ohio St. is just a flat out good basketball team. No one wants them in March.

Our fans complain about Pearl and the Vols... we should be so lucky. I've seen just about every Ohio State game and they aren't very good. Big 10 is just overrated. Ohio State has 0 depth. None.

Their best ooc games were against Florida State, North Carolina and Butler. They went 1-2. Seriously, North Carolina at home. Gross.

They also played Pac 10 leading Cal on the road. I know the Pac 10 sucks, but that is at least as good a win as the FSU one. WVU was also on their schedule. They lost to Butler without Turner, and dropped two more games in the time period (they likely would have won 2 out of the 3 without him, and may have given Wisconsin a run as well). Then they beat Purdue on the road and Michigan St. on the road.

So, how exactly are they not good or overrated?

Also, need I remind you about the UGA or USC debacles? Tennessee might very well be as good as Ohio St. (I don't think so) but if you are going to highlight bad losses, at least be consistent.

I agree with this to an extent. However, all I have to say is we beat #1 Kansas with half of our team suspended. So if their losses are being taken into account without their star player, our wins should be without ours...

Ehh... Georgetown is still a brutal matchup. The Vols halfcourt game is a lot better than it was last year, but a physical, disciplined halfcourt team is the last thing I want to see in the first weekend.

As for Duke, Tennessee is physical enough to give them problems, and athletic enough to create turnovers. That's not to mention the fact that Bobby Maze would make Scheyer his little *****.

I think we can match up with physical teams now. Winning against Ky proves that. Williams is coming into his own, I hope, so bring 'em on!

Aside the top 3, this field is open. There really aren't many matchups that are just hideous for us.

that may be true.

But Syracuse sure looks dangerous right now. I wonder who won't be physically overmatched against them. Maybe I'm too influenced by the pounding they gave Nova, but they looked incredibly tall, strong, quick and bouncy.

One more to add; cbssports projects us as a 5 seed in the west; w/ duke as 1 and this time Texas as the 4

But Syracuse is easily top 3, along with KU and KY.

Georgetown isn't all that physical. We could expose them big time with a matchup zone.

No, they're not. John Thompson III's style at Georgetown is very different from the way his dad coached them. You beat Georgetown by being physical with them, not the other way around.

#4 seed, but god please, not Murray State.

They have the second best field goal percentage in the nation and they can put up points in a hurry, and that's not something we need for a first round game.

Seriously? You're hyped up about our seeding but worried that Murray State might be a problem? Wow.

I remember a certain SEC team a couple years ago that underestimated Siena in the first round as a #4 seed and lost by 21.

I look at it this way. They run the same offense as Vandy with better players. I'm not sure how that makes anyone feel confident about playing them.

Love ur optimism. Physical is a laugher though. We shoot the fewest number of free throws in the SEC except for LSU. We also are ranked third in fouls committed, we are a long way from physical my friend.
Duke, with their ability to run and shoot from outside is a brutal matchup for UT. We match up better with KY or Georgetown than Duke...JMO:blink:

Duke is far and away a better matchup than Georgetown for us.

Not a chance. Duke matches our size and shoots well. Monroe is as soft as we are and they play dumb for us.

Duke has issues, but this is their best team in years. Big and shoots well. Can't defend a good point, but we don't have one of those and we don't hae wings to expose their issues with quick guys driving it.

Respect ur opinion. Just disagree.. UT can beat Georgetown. That game can be played in the 60's or low 70's and in the half court. We cannot play Duke in that range IMO...Duke would shoot 40 free throws against UT and they shoot 79% as a team. If u think Vandy is a bad matchup, then imagine that on 10.... JMO.. GBO
