Brandon Willis to...

So should Tennessee release Tyler Bray, Corey Miller, Eric Gordon, JuJuan James, Marsalis Teague and Greg King too?

They are not Kiffin's baggage. They are Kiffen recruits who came to UT for the school. If they had bolted as Miller did once they knew Kiffin was gone, than they would be the same as Willis. They stayed with their school without Kiffin which makes them Orange blooded.

Oh okay.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Take him. UT provides the stability he needs at the HC position and with the VFL program. He already has a good buddy at UT to make the transition much easier.

As for being unstable... He figured out UNC wasn't for him and went west. Not surprisingly he got homesick and figured out that Neuheisel and his program weren't exactly what he'd been sold.

UT could easily be the perfect fit for him.

The kid has some family issues going on. I wouldn't slam the kid before knowing what was going on with him.

Former Byrnes High School defensive end Brandon Willis transferring back to North Carolina from UCLA | GoUpstate.com

“Brandon's mother died and his grandma is all he has, and that's what it's all about. It's not anything about UCLA. We just have to do what we have to do.”

Brandon Willis transferred from UNC to UCLA in August after his father accepted a job on the West Coast.

This is really too bad. I put the blame solely on Kiffin and Co. This kids entire life was upended by their decision. Now don't bombard me with all the "he should have stayed committed like the others" comments. I agree but understand how difficult and chaotic that situation must have been for an 18 year old kid.

I wish Brandon the best in his future at UNC. Maybe he can help Davis sharpen up his two minute offense...

not sure if he's a head case or not but he certainly is a talented player and having another DT sure wouldn't hurt

Loaded? not sure i agree with that assessment - kid wanted to stay close to home - dad was out of work and then got a new job in socal which led to his decommitment from UNC - now grandma sick so they are thinking of moving back closer to home - seems like it is the kid's family more than the kid that isnt stable

not all his fault and i would take him in a heartbeat

Alright, the guy's mother dies - he wants to follow his dad to Cali so he gets out of UNC. Now his grandmother is gravely ill he wants to move back and be closer to her. I don't see how this makes him "a nut job" or "unstable" or anything along those lines. He's been dealt a crappy hand, that's it.

"Loaded" was a joke.

Coming from what seems to be a very difficult family situation and being easily influenced by scumbags (Kiff and O), hardly qualifies this kid to be written off. I hope that where ever he lands, someone will be able to mentor him before he reaches true adulthood. "We are loaded at DT" might be the dumbest statement that I have read on this site.

If anything, it says his priorities are more in order than most kids his age.

this thread got dumb.... mostly because of the insincerities of the internet...

regardless, would love to have this kid, but I think the best move for him right now would be to go somewhere real close to home.

UT would qualify for the Top 5 Brandon Willis Closest-to-Home D-I schools (the others being SC, Clampsun, UGA and GT, if Duncan, SC is considered "home").

There were good reasons for him to commit to UT the first time around. With all of the major issues in his family and at UT with Kiffin there is no wonder he was in a quandry. Assuming the coaches still want him after he reneged on the program; he should honor his original commitment to the Vols if they have a scholarship to offer at some point between now and the season's start.

You never have enough good talent in the D-line.
