Our QB just threw 200+ yards and 5 TDs, we had two 100 yd. rushers, and we allowed 0 sacks, and held them to less than 100 yards. Who wouldn't wanna play for that? If we do it again next week, then we may have bigger names than Bray calling.

+1. I think there are plenty of recruits just waiting to see if the hype is real or just fluff.

If we beat UCLA convincingly and upset UF, that should be all the evidence needed for guys like Jeff Luc and others.
Recruiting will probably explode after that.

I love how many Vol fans have already given this game up, all based on last year's staff. This team, talent-wise is no worse than the one we had two years ago...most of the same players, and with a top 10 classthis season, which was ranked one spot ahead of UF. This class will be as big for us as UF's freshmen were then.

UF has no RB's worthy of note. Never heard of their WR's. No Percy Harvin. New OC I never heard of going against a 20+yr veteran DC in the NFL. They have A-L-L the pressure on them. Not so with us. I like our chances at pulling off an upset. Not predicting, but they are not the immovable force so many of you think they are

I think we have a chance,a very very slim chance, but don't pretend that we will go out and beat Florida just because we beat Western Kentucky the way we did today.

AMEN!!!!!! I'm sorry, but I fully believe in our guys to beat Florida, if they play intensely, if they prepare well, and if they believe they can. I know Florida is good. I know they have Tim Tebow and Brandon Spikes. I know that EVERYONE is picking them to win the NC again. But I also know that we just executed a near flawless game. I know we just scared the crap out of a team, I know we just scored 63 points. I know we just played more intensely than any Tennessee team in a LONG time. I know we made mistakes, but I know we recovered very quickly. We were extremely efficient. I know Florida is good and it won't be that easy. But I know that the same guys that played today will play on the 19th. I'm not counting us out at all. If you are...maybe you shouldn't be on this site.

I'm not basing it on that. I've said a number of times this summer that it was a foolish move to count our team out before they even take a snap. This game was just a good tune up.

We would've struggled if Fulmer were still coaching

I don't know that we would have struggled under Fulmer, but we definitely wouldn't have beaten them this badly. While I agree with you that it isn't smart to count out this team, don't let you optimism counteract how tough it is going to be to beat Florida(or even stay with them).

Completely agree with you. New coaching staff is amazing....I really think with the old staff it would have been pretty close. Or certainly not a blow out.

You counted them out. I'm making the case that as a true UT fan, who observes the facts at hand, it's not Mission Impossible as so many like you claim. I didn't say it would be easy, but I'm sorry....I'm not willing to give up on my team before the game is even played.

I agree with you 100%, this team had more fire than I have seen in quite a few years. They played to WIN and didn't play not lose. The mistakes that we made are easily correctable and will be corrected. I just hope they run the point spread even farther! Just adds alittle more fuel to the fire! GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!

So we shouldn't be on this site if we are realistic and think we can't beat one of the most stacked teams in NCAA history, with a team that went 5-7 last year, that is learning a new offensive and defensive scheme?

Which game did you watch? You think we executed a near flawless game today?

We played well, but if we were playing a team the caliber of UF, UGA, Bama, etc...we would have been down 21-0 in the first quarter.

I disagree, our defense was still lights out.

Defense has been solid for 3 out of the last 4 years. Also remember that UF did not just go up and down the field last year, UT actually outgained them in yardage, the problem was turnovers.

Here's what I know:

1) Every single game starts 0-0.
2) Every team is beatable.
3) We aren't shabby.

I'm not saying that I 100% believe we are going to beat Florida. I didn't claim that. Realistically, I know the odds of that are low. HOWEVER. What I DID say was that we CAN beat Florida. I don't care how "stacked" they are. I don't care if they are the team of the century (which they very well may be). They are still beatable. Ole Miss beat them last year, and nobody would have believed it beforehand. Why can't we? We will still have momentum. We SHOULD be 2-0. We should have two games of experience under our belt. We should have our entire fan base behind us. We should have proven to everyone that our system works.

Please, tell me why it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to beat Florida?

And yes, today I felt was very very well executed. Were there mistakes? Yes. Two interceptions, a fumble, and a muffed punt aren't great. But 7 incompletions is better than 8. 63 points is better than 62. Great defense is great defense. The fact that nearly every play we had produced positive yardage (in fact, our play average was almost a first down, 8.6 yards per play). We had TWO 100 yard rushers, a Quarterback who threw more TD's in one game than he did ALL year last year.

Am I judging our entire season on one game? No way. I know Western Kentucky is a King Muffin. But I also saw a lot of things that we had today that we have lacked, and that are going to most assuredly produce improvement in our results, whether we win or not.

Last year: Wyoming, scored 7 on one of the worst teams in the country.
This year: WKU, scored 63 on one of the worst teams in the country, and were 6 yards away from 70 when the game ended.

Last year: Florida blew us out.
This year: We might hang.

Last year: UCLA beat us.
This year: We SHOULD stomp them.

Like I said, every game starts 0-0, and being realistic, on paper, no, we shouldn't win. But I will never say that we can't.

And by the way...last years team that went 5-7 did not have these freshmen which produced more than 50% of our offense, and 24 points.

This is a new team, and this is a new day. Accept it, and love it.
