Over on TOS someone posted that they have talked to Brent Brewer, another late signee who was at camp, said he was considering Clemson, Tennessee, and Mississippi State. It is in the free section so I don't know if its true.

If it is that means he and potentially Jarvis Jones were here on unofficial visits...

Wow Brent?! He went to Sandy Creek with me (he was a senior when i was a freshmen). Guess his base ball career is over.

Brent Brewer
6-2, 187, Wide Receiver
Tyrone, GA (Sandy Creek HS)

Impressive athlete who will play football and baseball at Florida State...rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 36 overall wide receiver in the nation by Rivals.com...also ranked as the No. 23 player on Rivals.com's Postseason Georgia Top 50 for 2006...named to the 2005 Georgia Coaches Association South All-Star Team...earned honorable mention All-State honors for Class 4A after recording 35 catches and eight touchdowns as a junior...a shortstop and outfielder in baseball, he is also listed as the No. 57 overall prospect on the 2006 Team One Baseball Top-100 HS preseason list among seniors...ran a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash at the Athens Nike Camp, the fourth best time among all prospects in attendance...attended the same high school as current Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson...chose Florida State over Georgia, Louisville and Mississippi State.

He signed with Florida State as a safety out of high school but went to minor league baseball for some reason. If he comes here probably we probably see him as a safety right? He said he is about 6'1, 205 now but take it for what its worth...

IS this something to worry about as far as Loften is concerned or just another body?

Pretty sure it's just another body. Last I heard is that Loften is qualified. Honestly, I'd rather save the scholarship for next years class if the scholly can be back counted. I'm not too high and snagging a guy who hasn't played football in over 4 years. I guess this is to cover the loss of Oliver.

That's what I said about Kelley Washington, and he was probably the biggest playmaker (and biggest douche) that we've had since 1999.

I don't think we should count out Brewer yet. He must have had a pretty impressive camp. He may have been out of football for a while but if he has been training for a career in the MLB he would have to been very fit. I had the great opportunity to meet some AA and AAA players during the off season. They are in absolutely in great shape. He would have to learn the scheme like everyone else.

I thought we only had 27 spots for the 2010 class.. Adding Brewer would make 28 signees. Am I missing something?

You never can tell with guys that havent played ball in a while. Some dont have that touch anymore and some can play the game just as good as when they hung it up...
