They should have drafted Crompton.. He would have been the day one starter. lol

If true, the Vikings just went from a legitimate SB contender to a team that will struggle to finish above .500.

I don't know why the entire nation hates on Brett. He has done more in his career than most quarterbacks. He made the game fun to watch and he is by far one of the most exciting QBs to watch. He played the game like an iron man should and he by far is one of my favorite quarterbacks to have played the game.

Once you have done what he has done in his career you have every right to change your mind, how would you feel if you left something you loved doing then got that urge again to come back and have the entire country criticize you for doing something you love? Until you've been to 11 Pro Bowls, a 3 time First team All-Pro selection, 3 time Second team All-Pro selection, 3 time NFL MVP, 5 time NFC Player of the Year, 2 time NFC Champion, a Super Bowl Champion, and a sure fire Hall of Famer I don't think you have a right to demand he stay retired.

I don't want to see Favre retire any time soon, if he can play the game at a high level I don't care if he is 50. They guy still has "it" and proved it last year, I don't think he can go out on that interception against the Saints last year...

He has 1 Super Bowl ring, and it's from 15 years ago. He's been a good quarterback, but there are others currently in the league with much better resumes.

His annual offseason bullshiz is only tarnishing his legacy. He'll be remembered as much for being an indecisive drama queen as he will for being an accomplished quarterback.

He's mismanaged the retirement process for the past four years.

And he'll probably do it again next year.

He left on an interception at every place he's been. Just a little trivia.

I wish 4 all the best.

I won't believe it until week 17 ends and he isn't on the Vikings roster at any point before that

they should have drafted a QB period since favre couldn't have had much more than a few years left in the tank.

Clausen, McCoy, Crompton, heck anyone

I think his problem is he really, really wants to go out on top like elway did, and that's been causing him trouble with coming to grips that he's getting to old for the game.

If he had won a super bowl either of the last 2-4 years, he'd be retired permanently and we wouldn't hear anything about this

what were they last time when Tavaris/Sage were the starters?

I don't think they'll be as bad as this guy said...but this would certainly be a pretty big blow to the vikings

They won 10 games with Tavaris and they are a much better team now. I would take Sage as the #1 starter all through training camp over Favre.

They won 12 last year. Favre wasn't the sole reason they won 2 more games. All that team needs is a game manager.

Game Managers rarely lead NFL teams to an NFL Title.
And their schedule is certainly not a cakewalk:

@ Saints
Dolphins
Lions
@ Jets
Cowboys
@ Packers
@ Patriots
Cardinals
@ Bears
Packers
@ Redskins
Bills
Giants
Bears
@ Eagles
@ Lions

I'm not sure I could view Sage as a good game manager; it would be him making a huge step up from where he's been in the past

he's kinda been said to be error prone

Outside of the end of the Colts game when he was in Houston, when was he error prone? Plus Favre is the most error prone qb in nfl history. Let's not forget why they picked him up in the first place.

Dilfer and Roethlisberger (1st title) where game managers and the Vikings are built a lot like both of these teams. Strong D and running game with playmakers at WR.

History shows us every year that schedules don't mean a thing in the NFL.

his 2007 and 2008 stats - though only among 6 and 9 games respectively - just feature a lot of turnovers, both INT and Fumbles, alot more than's comforting in that short an amount of games played

MIN's newspaper is reporting that the vikings are offering to give Favre more money this year if he stays with them and doesn't retire
