They want him to be a Brad Smith type player.
As I understand it they drafted him as a receiver/athlete. After seeing him throw the ball around at practice, Childress decided to put him in the QB rotation.
He led a nice drive in the opener. Other than one pass he under threw he demonstrated power (on an out pattern) and finese (fade to a tight end in the end zone). He also scrambled for 2 first downs and probably about 20 yards total.
He's raw but has tons of upside. He was definitely the best QB in Alabama the last 2 years.
