Brian Kelly to ND/ Will not coach bowl game

Did you expect him to tell them he'd be out ASAP?

I expect him not to say a damn thing. I expect him to be cagey, if necessary. He didn't have to tell them anything. If that meant that they lost the Pittsburgh game because the players were so overwrought with handwringing about their coach's future, then so be it. This isn't misleading the media or anything impersonal like that; this was lying directly in the faces of men to whom Kelly had a moral obligation.

Maybe you think that a game played with a funny-shaped ball by college kids wearing silly uniforms is worth that. I don't.

You're probably right, but I doubt he's the first coach to promise his team he's staying and then leave...

That is as shady as it can get if you ask me. Screw the kids I'm going to ND

I have no problem with him upgrading to the ND job; it's his career, after all. And in general I think Kelly handled the situation about as well as it can be handled. Except that then he went and ruined it by screwing the most important part of it up.

Cincy lost 10 starters off their defense from a year ago and they had a pretty good D last year. Just an FYI to all who keep throwing out there that Kelly is an offensive coach and his teams play no defense...
