Bring back the Beer Barrel.

Completely agree and been saying this for years. Way past due for a tradition that should've never been removed in the first place. I mean now we sell alcohol at the games so there's really no argument against it.

100% agree.......I really don't know anyone who was fighting against it to begin with

I asked this question on the Wildcat Liar message board back in 22 and boy did I get blasted. My consensus is Kentucky, at least their fans, don't want to bring it back until the series becomes more competitive in their favor. It's a non-issue for them.

I wish Danny White would call Mitch Barnhart and say"Hey, we are bringing the beer barrel to the game. No disrespect for the football players who died 26 years ago but you sell alcohol at your stadium now as do we, so the beer barrel shouldn't be an issue."

Well then it will never happen. They need to man up and stop being whiney losers.

Stoops has been close a few times recently though. Stoops is 2-9 against us, which is a lot better than his predecessors. The past 4 matches in Lexington have been really close.

Its not just the fans, but also the AD in UK seems like they don't care about bringing it back. I think Danny would get it back in a heartbeat if UK's AD signed off too. Their whole Athletic Department is pretty lame though.

The fact that UK does not want to bring it back is all the more reason to do so LOL

So true. And rest assured that if the powers that be in the UK BBall booster family wanted it back, it would've already happened.

I mean to say that if it was a Bball tradition instead of a football tradition. Sorry for the confusion there...

I think you mean 'Wildcat Lair'.

Or maybe not... ;)

Saturday will be our 120th meeting against UK, a team we have played annually for 81-straight years. We hold a 84-26-9 edge, including wins in 36 of the last 40 meetings.

The Barrel represents the Vols superiority over Kentucky, I can't see them ever agreeing to play for the Barrel again, no matter what liquid is in it.

Danny White, where can I spend my money on a replica beer barrel? I want to give you more money, but I’m out of ideas.. Maybe we can bring back the barrel! We can call it a whiskey barrel since beer is taboo.

We can't even get people to agree with traditional orange and white and we want to try to bring back a barrel that was stopped due to the death of students. I think the thought is dead on arrival. I support traditions, but I just don't see this returning.

And therein lies their hypocrisy. They're pretending this is about "honoring" the kids who died in an alcohol related accident. It's really about the fact that they found an excuse to get rid of it because they can't compete.

Stopped due to a political/ ideological attention grab*

They merely exploited the deaths of children, barely old enough to be legal adults.
