Brooklynn - this needs its own thread

Wow, how does a thread that was meant to celebrate BK fill with bile and vinegar? I’d just like to submit that she has been a very pleasant surprise for this team. If she truly possesses the 3 point shot, combined with her defense and amazing poise as a PF for a freshman, she could be amazing this year and the following 3.

Brooklyn has done a solid job playing significant minutes. She has had a good defensive presence and doesn't make many mistakes. She is also averaging 2.3 points (32% FG, 16.7% 3FG) and just over 1 ast/game and .5 spg. I don't think any elite HS PG is looking at these #'s and thinking that they should look elsewhere since Tennessee's starting PG position is locked up.

true
but then again, this could be the "basement #'s" for this kid.
I saw a ton of potential in her when she was coached in the KY Premier team
Her and Kaiya....I don't usually judge them badly
and I saw an basketball athlete in her and as Coach K gets to teaching her how to be a guard,,,she'll be a good one

Im not saying a great pg shouldn't come to TN but Miles will be the starter next year over any incoming freshmen BOOK IT

And this is why she wasn't more highly regarded out of high school -- she can't shoot a lick. Credit to her for earning minutes this early, but it also speaks volumes about the current point guard situation (lack thereof) on the roster. No elite PG prospect should be scared to come here...

It’s amazing that you never get tired of assassinating the character of the players and coaches. A true troll in every sense. Pitiful that you even are here let alone say you are a LV fan.

She's a freshman. Freshmen can improve with good coaching. The current point guard situation is fine with her and Walker. 9-0 says so.

Nothing in that post attacked her character - just making a (blunt, but not inaccurate) assessment of her ability as a player at this stage. Would you not agree that in 2021 it’s not ideal for a point guard to have an outside shooting percentage in the teens?

I wouldn't hone in on the minimum amount of attempts that she has taken thus far as an indication of her ability to shoot and score. I think we need a lot more information since she was a 46 percent shooter in high school and 30 percent from the three. If were going to judge her on 25 shot attempts then a lot of the freshmen in the 2021 class some ranked in the top 10 and many in the top 50 are going to be terrible as well. She has made 3 of 4 from the free throw line doesn't mean she is going to be a 75 percent free throw shooter just like 25 field goal attempts doesn't indicate her as a 32 percent field goal shooter. The reason she is playing now is she brings a lot of energy and defensive effort to the team. She runs the team without turning the ball over less than 3 turnovers per 40 minutes played. I believe her offense will be more like the last game she played eventually. Certainly a lot more information is needed before deciding she is a bust offensively.

She is 9 games into her first season of collegiate ball, so it's ridiculous to declare her as a bust offensively. Everyone knows a kid who seemed to blossom overnight once they reached a new level of maturity and the light bulb goes off.

It also sometimes happens that only after reaching the collegiate level that it becomes obvious that the player had peaked in high school athletically. They get away from home, start experiencing new exciting things as young adults, and suddenly basketball isn't as important to them as it once seemed to be. It happens. Brooklyn is NOT that kind of player.

My guess is that Miles is only beginning to understand her potential, and will be one of those players who will steadily blossom into a complete player. I said after her first game she was the steal of her class, and I stand by that. The light bulb is flickering!

Who called her a bust? She was just SEC freshman of the week!

It would be silly to write off any freshman as a bust at this point including Wynn and Striplin who, unlike Miles, have been nonfactors to this point...

Yes, it would be silly. So, why did you write this entire class off as mid-major talent when they were recruited?
