Bruce Calls Out Brandon

I think Biden is an idiot, he's got a lot of low hanging fruit that he deserves to be bashed over. The cost of gas isn't one of them.

August 23, 2020 the average price was about $2.25. When Trump left off the average price of gasoline was around $2.35 January 21, 2021 or basically flat.

It was $2.90 by March 12, 2021 , and by August 10, 2021 it was $3.20.

Please explain the increase between January 21, 2021 and August 10, 2021 of $0.85 or 36%. I chose this as the cut-off because I think it was prior to the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle.

Demand outweighed supply.

One thing that is missing from the puzzle: Biden went to war with the fossil fuel industry his first week in office. The price of gas went up nearly a dollar a gallon in two months. Why? Because the market is an emotional place and his policies increased speculation for fear of a tightening supply. Biden most definitely deserves some of the blame for this, but of course not all of it.

and........ Oil companies are reluctant to build new refineries because of the hostile stance of the current administration.

They’re not building new refineries because it would damn near impossible with the NIMBY attitude of most Americans and the unreasonable permitting process. What they’re not doing is expanding or updating current refineries to meet increased worldwide demand.

The (chevron CEO) stated reason was length of time and cost, including the long length of time it would take for the stock holders to see the ROI on the capital investment.

@Sandman 423 No new refineries were built under the previous Republican administrations going back to the 70's either.

Everyone can chirp about the hostility from the current admin towards the Oil industry, and while it's true to a degree. Our inability to refine crude to gas didn't start two years ago and it wouldn't be fixed if ANY admin would have given the oil industry the green light to do whatever tf they wanted two years ago.

If people want to blame something. Blame the Covid shutdowns which decreased the demand and shuttered these refineries, blame Russia for invading Ukraine.

In April of 2020 gas averaged $1.938, when Biden was sworn in it was $2.42 - demand had already started as things were opening up. The issue didn't start with him.

Economies were opening back up in 2020. Gas prices were still fine then. The current segregationist in the White House stated that he was openly hostile to the fossil fuel industry. Do you need a video reminder of his statements?

Second. This isn't the only issue I've had with our political class or the people behind the curtain pulling their strings. Increased homelessness, increased crime, increased rental prices, an increase in overdoses, and pushing agendas that over half the country does not want.

You've really worked yourself up over time to convince yourself. Now you share it with confidence that the Biden Administration has nothing to do with it.

To blame a massive global uptick on one American president is just asinine.

Like, this is another poor administration in a line of already poor administrations, but you're just dense if you think he is the primary factor.

None of this catastrophe exists in a vacuum. He is ultimately responsible to some degree.

He has done zero to mitigate it. His war on fossil fuels have exacerbated it.

I think it is somewhat of a 1/2 truth to say that we haven't built any since the 70's. We have built new ones but we haven't completed any major ones since the 70's.
I don't disagree that the shutdowns hurt and Russia showing it's ass is also a factor. I don't know what the price of fuel would be with Trump and I feel that it is irrelevant since his administration is gone. I do blame the current administration for not having any idea of how to handle the situation beyond telling people to buy an electric car.

If the government created an incentive for a shutdown refinery to be brought back online it would be done and done quickly. Maybe instead of all the PPE given out they should have put some into keeping plants open. Biden't folks are in a weak position and we are going to pay for it.

He wanted the big office and with the big office comes the blame. As the head big dog now you will experience it.
