LSU started off disadvantaged because of UF and SEC and now they are being made to look pretty bad since they drug their feet in the Nov 19 date.

Interesting. The statement says that had they not played the game they would not have been eligible for the SECCG as they would not have played the required eight conf games.

While I absolutely believe that is the intent I do not believe that is the existing literal text. Not today anyway.

Wonder if that was the hammer brought to bear. It's an obvious argument.

had to be, no way FL agrees to play the game in Baton Rouge, if that's not on the table.

it appears Foley was put in a corner, and made the only decision that he could given what was put in front him.

Florida's AD is/are still busch league and tried to game the system. They failed. Foley and McElwain really Tabored this one.

Florida screwed this up from the get go.

LSU was in a position they didn't have to do squat.

League had to put the mandate that game has to be played or Florida risks being dq'd.

Florida then makes concession but goes all ***** about it since their plan failed and started crying and slinging mud.

Both sides benefit, really. UF got a bonus bye week to rest their players, get their front 7 and QB healthy and get their O clicking. They likely have a better chance at beating LSU OTR on Nov 19 than they would have had in the Swamp with no Del Rio and 5 backups on the front line. And UF was getting hammered in the media and called cowardly-- and the negativity was only going to escalate .

Foley delayed as long as he could, then when his hand was forced, he probably looked at the pros and cons and decided UF would come out better with this option, sweetening the deal with the chance to make LSU look bad. Foley is actually a very good strategist.

I know Foley is supposed to be an AD guru, but no way he came out on top here. His refusal to play Sunday or Monday after the hurricane was total miscalculation on his part. You can spin it that they're getting the next two home games. Truth is LSU is playing two home games with Florida, last year and this. In addition, they lost another home revenue game this year. Foley overplayed his bluff in an effort to avoid LSU and the real possibility of an SEC loss. I don't think either AD or SEC Commissioner knew of the 8 game rule if it existed at the time of the Black Thursday conversation or during the weekend TV and Radio interviews. I don't think it existed.
