This article really paints our program in a very good light. Feldman must think highly of CBJ. Its nice to get positive national attention.

"I want our players to understand the standard and expectation that they're representing here not only on the field but off the field," he said. "We use a term that the logo never comes off with what you do. You're a Vol for Life. We stress that. It's about building that affinity for the University of Tennessee and what they are representing. This is truly a special place and it has a lot of pride."

Damn right, Butch!

Very good article and very positive coverage of Coach Jones, and what he is instilling into the program. I was impressed that he worked his way through college, etc.. That shows he will do what it takes to achieve his goals and that he is a hard worker.

His positive attitude is having an enourmous effect on the players. Their attitude is much better than last year. The way CBJ deals with the players seems to even be having a great effect on Michael Palardy who is kicking much better. Like Dave Hart, I believe Butch Jones is the right coach to lead the Vols back to prominence.

My favorite parts of the article:

Asked how a team that had the talent it had offensively in 2012 couldn't even make a bowl game, Ja'Wuan James paused for a few seconds. "It was lack of leadership, I hate to say," adding that he's convinced that'll be different now.

His predecessor had developed a prickly reputation among alums, fans and the media. Jones has come across as the exact opposite in his short time at UT but also throughout his coaching career.

Jones beams when he talks about being a part of the Tennessee program and all of the great players who built it. A BCS title trophy sits in his office. "That's what you're in it for," he said. "But before we can even think of even winning a national title, we gotta think about winning the day. Everyone wants to focus on the end result. We gotta focus on minute-by-minute, hour-by-hour and day-by-day just being a better football team. It's about learning how to play winning football.

Met Bruce while he was in town. He told me "Tennessee is in good hands."

We talked quite a bit; he mentioned the line as a strength, but was not impressed with QB or WR.

You should read his blog post from earlier in the week about Tiny, it was also a good read.

When Coach Butch was hired, I felt like we got a good coach. Not a homerun, but better than what we had, for sure. I'm beginning to think I was stupid and that this is really a homerun hire! I think if he can continue to improve this class and get us back into the Top 10 in recruiting this year and the subsequent years, we will be back in the hunt for a SEC Championship! And if you are in the hunt for a SEC Championship, you are in the hunt for the National Championship! I really believe he could be the man to get us back!!!

The only thing I don't like about the article is they are making it sound like we've never done the Volympics before. That's something he's just continuing, he's just being smart and publicizing it more than Dooley.

Excellent, excellent article. Not to sound so cliche, but Butch Jones "gets it". Go Vols :good!:

I really believe Butch Jones can bring the Vols back to respectability given the time and patience. Vol fans are so broken and frustrated almost any improvement will be
appreciated greatly. By 2016 UT should and will be competing for the SEC and national recognition, we fans just have to give Jones the time and not expect too much too soon.
Competing for the SEC championship can't happen soon enough for this old Vol fan. I just have to temper my expectations.

After reading that article, 2 things :

1) I'm excited and looking forward to the Butch Jones era at UT. Go Vols!

2) In a weird way, I'm thankful UT didn't make a bowl game last year, or else we would still have that clueless loser who's more worried about his dry cleaning done right than winning football games.

Until the Mizzou fiasco I was holding out for a low level bowl bid in the hopes that some small victory could be the miracle spark of a turnaround. The dual blessing/curse of being a devoted fan is this sometimes blind faith. Coach Dooley was not a scumbag, just misdirected and over his head on this big stage...like the successful coaches in the SEC, he believed his course of action would succeed...he shouldn't have. What Butch is unveiling with family, tempo and overall energy in practice and personal interactions has led to high profile recruits committing early and on their own recruiting others with a gusto I've never seen in this program. I don't know how fast the big victories will take but it's gonna be a lot more fun while we wait!
