One more thing to add and then I'm done, UT is not some great academic institution whose leaders (Cheek) are against athletics. Sure there have been issues, but much of that has to with instability and a lack of good leadership at the top positions. It seems this stuff is getting better but it takes time to build stability and trust.
I'm saying this because to call for people outside of the AD to be fired over this stuff is silly as that isn't their main job. Florida, Georgia, Vandy, Ohio State, Auburn and many others institutions with much better reputations academically have all had much greater success of late than Tennessee. Everyone can co-exist and thrive. It takes stability, good leadership, compromise, and most importantly good fits in the important positions of AD, head coaches, etc. Many on here may disagree, but it's as much up to athletics to adapt to the University as it is the University to adapt to the AD. Just have to find the right coaches and administrators who are a good enough fit to make it work and also win games.
