I dont think it was in poor taste at all. We just live in a time that you cant say anything anymore without somebody crying and getting their feelings hurt. Go watch Carlos Mencia and learn how to take a joke!!

It was just a joke. The question is will it affect his recruiting from know on. I am hoping not. We will see what people think

It might hurt us in getting short, racist whiteboys but I don't think it will affect much else.

If anything, I think this joke would help CBP with the guys he actually wants to recruit.

who wants to watch Mencia when you can watch the actual comedians who wrote the joke tell it much better? Go Joe Rogan!

Pearl didn't say anything disparaging about the hood. Most people from the "hood" realize it and aren't sensitive about it. They either wear it as a badge of honor or use it as motivation to improve their lives.

Pearl wasn't trying to hurt any feelings or offend anyone.
If people are being honest, Pearl's comments were spot on and detail the dichotomy of the South.

My point exactly. This whole politically correct BS has got to stop. Just reading the joke was funny (I have KKK folk in my bloodline for goodness sake), I can only imagine how funny it sounded coming from CBP.

how much time have you spent there?

Growing up in Knoxville, we usually tried to avoid Grainger County. I've only had a reason to go out there a few times and one of them was for a party that the cops decided to entrap most of the attendees.

Only thing I care about from Grainger county is their delicious 'maters.

If anybody could get away with that joke it is CBP.

I bet it was hilarious! I don't think there is anybody in the South or the North who doesn't have racist relatives(black or white).

Every culture has their own racisms. The more we can admit it and joke about it then the better the world will be and the more we will realize that we are much more similar than different.

Racism is petty and juvenile and should be joked about as such.

It was a simple joke, people are just taking it out of context to sound racists. I thought it was funny, i live only 15 minutes from Grainger county & nothing he said was wrong. Lol

Society needs to get the tit out of their mouth. In class we are going over how we can't have winners and losers in our groups in the classroom. Some kids can't take losing and it hurts them later in life crap. I wish we could toughen up some as a whole.

No offense taken, don't understand the big deal. The truth hurts, and unfortunately hood wearing is a part of our society, like it or not.

I see foxsports.com has decided to run this story as a headline. The funny part was someone didn't read it and just assumed it was about Kiffin. Here was the comment they left in regards to this Bruce Pearl story. Oh, and they were not responding to any other comments either.

This is not a color issue, this is a leadership issue within the Tennessee staff. When you're being led by someone as thoughtless and immature as Lane Kiffin, hi jinx will ensue. Keep it up boys, at this rate it will be a long time beofre "Rocky Top" is anything other than a punch line.

It's probably not the brightest thing to say in public. Put it this way, if you won't say it on a NYC subway train you probably shouldn't say it at all.

In order for a joke to be funny there usually has to be at least a small element of truth. Anyone who has ever been through Grainger county knows it's funny as hell.

Even the commentators on PTI are hacking on the media for such a non-story. Their view, 'people are just trying to fill programming time'. They invited Bruce to be on the show anytime. Finally, some support from ESPN.
