Bruce Pearl is a better basketball coach than Kevin O'Neill

Kevin O'Neill is a better coach.

Bruce Pearl is a better recruiter. Except he cheats and lies about it.

What is the criteria for saying O'Neill is a better coach?

I've read where everyone claims Kev teams have lacked talent, yada, yada, yada.

How good were the players Bruce took to the elite 8? It's not like Pearl has been coaching rosters full of NBA superstars his whole career.

His players always do/did the things it took to win, but they just didn't win? And exactly, he should be an assistant. He is good at certain aspects of basketball, for instance defense. However, everything else is subpar at best.

Do you think Bruce Pearl in his wildest dreams would EVER get hired as a lead assistant in the NBA? He's certainly not going to have a job here much longer, so we're about to find out.

Ryan won more games than he lost. Greinke is 26. Baseball pitching wins don't always correlate to pitching the best.

Basketball coaching does.

So Ed Biedenbach is a better coach than Tom Crean because Crean didn't make the tourney?

Coach O'Neill did a really good job with seinfield, I loved that show.

Oh, wait that was Larry David. Meh same difference

It's uncanny. People just say things with no backing. Kevin O'Neill is a better coach. Provide me with something that supports this hypothesis. I have provided numerous facts supporting that Bruce is better than O'Neill. So far the argument is that wins do not matter when judging coaches and O'Neill is the unluckiest coach in the history of basketball.

If I was trying to throw one year of data at you, you would be winning. Of course good coaches have bad years. The difference is that good coaches also have good years.

Crean just finished his third straight losing season. Jerry Green never had three losing seasons in a row therefore he is a better coach than Tom Crean.

Crean has been wildly successful sans DWade. One NCAA tourney win. I wouldn't classify him as anything other than a slightly above average coach right now.

So you are saying Jerry Green is a better coach than Tom Crean. Got it.

Did I? Crean still has more tourney wins and has to be given credit for the Wade years. You can't just pick and choose. I simply said that I'm not conviced he's the 2nd coming. He's still had more success than Green.

O'Neill has none of the final 4s to fall back on.

Green has higher winning percentage and must be the better coach.

Was listening to a podcast today that was talking about betting on the tournament with one of the bookmakers from Vegas. When the subject of USC came up he talked about how all the sharps jumped on them because sharps love any O'Neil coached teamed.

When UT vs. UM game was discussed it was described as a "bet on" vs. "bet off" game because UM is a team that sharps love to bet on and UT is a team they love to bet against. The reasoning? Beilein being a great sound, fundamental coach and Pearl being "a guy who just rolls the ball out there".

Thought of this thread and was laughing while I listened to it.

oneill did an amazing job at sc this year. i would have predicted an 8th placed finish.

Meanwhile, the Bronzer Brigade flamed the media for picking UT to finish 4th in the SEC East. Turns out, they overestimated us. We finished 5th.

Man, Watching the USC/ VCU game reminds me how little I enjoyed watching basketball when KO was here. Hard to watch.

Just remembered what really bad offense looks like. Half time score 22/22.

Then you quit watching the Vols for the past two seasons. hell, this season they quit playing defense as well. Must have really sucked for you.

Frankly, this season has not been enjoyable. It has been hard to watch. Last season, was not hard to watch.

The offense blew goats last season. In fact, it has sucked since Lofton and JSmith left.

This is only the beginning. Looking forward to the next few weeks around here is like living the scene where they're about to storm Mordoor in Return of the King.
