Twice All State in my sport. Turned down scholarships at about 10 smaller D-I schools to go to UT because I was sick of playing and realized I wasn't going to make a living doing it. Not really sure how that's relevant to your lack of toughness, but there you go.

I've found myself making the "what'd you play argument before, but it's really weak until someone proves that they have no idea what a player thinks. In that case, it's relevant. Otherwise, it's a prelude to "I have no idea" commentary.

Hat, do you still play any basketball?

I was a high school AND college athlete. What were you? If you're going to make it personal, then "gloves off" mofo.
Putting your use of "gloves off" mofo with your mention of your status as a collegiate athlete, I'm going to take a couple of guesses. Crew at Cornell? Lacrosse at Lehigh?

It wasn't my best sport, but I still shoot it up occasionally at the Downtown Y if there's a game going when I'm there.

I saw you talking in another thread about going to Campbell County. I played for Scott County; did you ever play them in baseball or basketball?

You would think that since you're all-knowing about basketball, you might have been able to notice that UGA didn't play one second of 2-3 zone. But, of course, you didn't.

I understand you hate Pearl, but the endless bashing of things that you obviously don't understand make you lose credibility. Give credit where it's due, and quit tearing them down in every single post.

Most every team has a rough game on the road during the conference schedule; the real test will be where they go from here and how they integrate Tatum and Goins back into the lineup.

WTF? the exact reason i posted... thought he said 2-3 zone.

i guess you haven't noticed our effort and focus has gone down hill in every game since KU. as i said before... wanting to see a team improve instead of regress is what i like to see. but it seems that the great motivator pearl just can't get that kind of performance out of his team unless we kick guys off the team and play the #1 team in the nation. but i guess people like you will think all is well as long as we win a game or two a year against a high profile team and then your satisfied regardless of our standard end of the year flop.

yes... i'm a terrible hater for questioning why we can't beat a zone... or why our players can't give consistent effort... or why we keep fading at the end of feb and march. i expect more... gasp... i'm a hater.

No I wasn't Ivy. I was a runner. And I ran hard.. I was the captain of my high school team - all state. And I went D3 instead of D1 because I would have rather been a baller than a runner. Unfortunately I was really good at running and only played JV for b-ball. I just was not good enough to play b-ball, but I guarantee that I had more heart and fire than anyone playing in front of me. When I finally got in a game I nailed four straight 3's to bring my team back to respectability. I went to one of "them private schools" in Chatt. and my coach was a tool. Basketball that is...

the reason they struggled against UGA was becuase they hadn't seen much 2-3 zone yet this year
.

That's what you said; and you sure seem to be bashing Pearl not because you thought he mistakenly thought UGA was playing a 2-3 when they were playing a 3-2, but instead, because you thought he said that no one had played much 2-3 against us during the year, which they obviously have. But you can try to pretend you knew UGA played 3-2; I'm sure everyone will buy it.

ok.

like i said... we still continue to struggle against any zone. we still aren't coached to get it to the high post or challenge it with purposeful ball movement and penetration. the great motivator hasn't been able to teach that in 5 years. but you cool-aid drinkers like LawVol just can't stand any criticism of your saviour.

do u like the way we're playing against zone... or man to man for that matter? don't you think these guys should know how to attack a zone by now?

Haha. Yea, I must have forgotten what a huge Pearlophile I am.

You obviously know about as much about me as you do basketball.

don't you think they should know how to attack a zone by now? your juco (LOL: edit) coach probably taught you as much... or maybe not... since you seem to think i don't know what i'm talking about... you probably think jacking up 3's is the best way for this team to beat a zone.

And it's still immaterial. The comments about being unprepared for a 3-2 should be withheld due to 5th amendment.

Thanks, played bball, fball, and baseball in HS. Baseball was my best shot too. Grades were sheet, politics were a factor in sports. I had no shot either way. Good to see you made it regardless.

I think in the 3-2 UGA played that Tennessee had to make them respect the outside jumper to ever be able to penetrate it. When the ball goes to Prince, they simply double down on Chism and essentially do the same thing with Hopson. They were smart; they made us try to beat them with threes by making it damn near impossible to get it inside. I thought Mark Fox did a great job game planning us.

To improve against the zone, we have to hit the boards harder. I think that's the way we can bring people out of it. We didn't do that on Saturday.

In high school, politics are sometimes THE factor in sports...

UGA did do a good job. but you don't simply jack it up from the outside and then crash.

u need good spacing, and rapid ball movement, and wayne and jp flashing in the high post.... the high post is the foul line area (in case you didn't know). instead, we generally stand and hold the ball till there's 8 seconds left on the shot clock and then panic.

jack it up and crash... ??? really? jeez.

We could have tossed around the perimeter at light speed against UGA and they still wouldn't have guarded Prince and they still would have sluffed off Hopson. When they do that, the high post isn't available (in case you didn't know). If we will start playing Cam and Hopson against the zone, I think they will have to respect our perimeter players a little more, and that might open up some looks on the inside.

But in the UGA game, fast ball movement would have made zero difference.

wrong. good ball movement is key to beating any zone defense. and it's not just zip it around the perimeter at lightning speed as you seem to think. there are seams in the zone that you exploit with proper spacing, ball movement, player movement and penetration. believe it or not you can also set screens in against a zone too. but if you can't grasp the concept of good ball movement and spacing... setting screens is way beyond your compabilities.
