Bruce Pearl Leaving: Crow Thread

It's pretty hard to imagine Tressel getting off the hook for this one.

I imagine he'll get a 6 game suspension or so, but he's definitely going to get hit less than a coach who doesn't work for a huge program. For what he did, I'd consider it getting off easy.

Yeah, no one has ever heard of Tennessee before.

I'm not saying that (sorry if it sounded that way), and Pearl deserves everything he's getting. But there's definitely going to be more leniency for Tressell than there'd be for the coach of some no-name, mid-major program.

Which program would you be referring to? I'm not saying you're wrong about the NCAA being selective, but Tressel's violation is pretty severe.

He certainly better be, because he'll be starting with a far worse roster than Pearl inherited from Buzz Peterson.

Hop, Harris, Williams, Fields all gone. I shudder to think about what this team looks like next year. Worst part is, Pearlophiles will point to the coach as the problem

I have absolutely no doubt about this.

That is, of course, unless the new coach attends a tanning salon and paints up. If he does that, he gets a lifetime pass at UT.

I don't know... I'm just thinking of a generic program. It's probably a symptom of how "super teams" like Ohio St. conduct business (not firing him, though he should be) than the NCAA's problem. I guess I'm just lacking in faith of the whole supposedly "amateur" college sports system dealing with liars and cheats.

Tennessee has the money, facilities, and the commitment to basketball to find a coach as good as or better than Pearl.

Agreed about that, but I think you'll here more during the football season. Also, it's not about ESPN, it's about the NCAA.

I'm admittedly ignorant about this, but is there any history of the NCAA laying the hammer down on a football coach as high profile as Tressell?

Golden, Mcrae, Hall, Maymon, Mcbee, Ware, Jones, Tatum Woolridge.

It's certainly not the least talented roster we've put on the court in recent history.
