UT is a football school and basketball was a secondary sport until Pearl. Now history will repeat itself.

Exactly. Mears was fighting with those 70s Voll football juggernauts. Couldn't fill any seats. That gigantic arena just appeared on campus.

You mean Tennessee didn't envision monster truck shows when they built Thompson-Boling?

Agreed.

Yep, me too. I'll be shocked if we get somebody who can win at the level Pearl has. That's a tall order for any coach. Winningest coach in the SEC since he got here. Those don't exactly fall from the sky.

B-Ball is so f'd. Seriously f'd. We found an up and coming star who liked Knoxville....that doesn't happen twice...and we're not the type of program that gets a big name that's already on top. We'll be lucky to make it to the NIT in the coming 5-10 years.

You can't blame anyone but Pearl himself.

You're one of the many posters on here that needs to take a course in Logic.

We'll be lucky not to be on probation in the coming 1-2 years.

I admit I was wrong about Pearl, and as of yesterday Hamilton as well. Six months ago I would have never thought firing the men's basketball coach and AD would be what is best for UT, but it looks like I was wrong about that too. So, to all that I argued with over and over about this, i.e. NYYVol, I was wrong and you were right.

Man, I thought that there would be something about a dude running around avenging past wrongs in the middle of the night while wearing black and white facepaint ... talk about a disappointment. HA!

Tennessee will be fine. To the poster who said it's hard to get someone that likes Knoxville whos on top...what drugs are you on? Bruce Pearl was not on top when he came to Tennessee and isn't on top when he leaves. I'll say this, he's definantly at the top of his game when it comes to marketing. It was hard not to like Bruce because of how energetic he was and so on. As for an Xs and Os guy, there are plenty better.

Hop, Harris, Williams, Fields all gone. I shudder to think about what this team looks like next year. Worst part is, Pearlophiles will point to the coach as the problem

I've never said it before, but BOOK it!

I do not support the logic that Bball is finished. Pearl was great while here, but he F'd himself. Time to move on.

Amazing how many people still act as if UT had no basketball program prior to 2005.
