And by the way, I don't care if we are 9-4, I'm glad we have a coach who believes enough in our program, and believes that we can win enough to schedule the likes of Memphis, Kansas, Gonzaga, Georgetown, Marquette, AND still deal with Florida, South Carolina, LSU, and Alabama in the regular season. The way I see it, if we come out with a losing record, they can't say we didn't play anybody. And if we come out with a winning record, then they can't say we didn't play anybody. I'm glad we're getting these kind of matchups. I was hoping we would beat Louisville last year in the tourney, just because I wanted to see a Tennessee-North Carolina matchup. To be able to play against North Carolina, Duke, UCLA....and hold your own...that's when you know you're there. And I think we are WELL on our way.

I'm starting to question the bolded statement as it applies to this particular team. They are perplexingly bad in halfcourt defense. Have any of yall been to a practice? I'm curious as to what they do in practice. Clearly, they have not been taught how to play a zone defense.

I hear that BP has taken on Cal's philosophy of recruiting the best players he can and "just rolling out the balls" and telling them to play.

You realize these are 18-19 year olds who have probably never had to work this hard or had top notch coaching.

you guys are unbelievable. bashing our team who has mostly freshmen, who is playing a very tough nonconference schedule. these guys will get better, trying have some faith. the tournament is what is important. forums are the worse thing to happen to sports.

Well said.

Anybody that is watching tonights game and thinks Pearl is doing a good job coaching does not have very high standards. He is letting a guy destroy them that he knew he had to stop and they are barely making an effort to even get in his way. I guess everybody is going to say, "oh its ok, its just one loss." Well everyone is going to be saying this and we are going to be out in the 1st round of the NIT and everybody will say oh Bruce is a good coach, he is great, oh he is wonderful he has takin us so far in the tournament.

So... I guess we need to thank Buzz that the Vols are only down four at the half?

Did I say that when I was talking about this game? No and No
The night is young. Considering you've already said it once, I won't put it by you to say we should be thankful for Peterson's presence in Knoxville again.

Last night was one of the most embarrassing things I have seen in Tennessee basketball, we let one person score 50 something points, we hardly got in his way. If you are pleased with that than I want some of what you are drinking and yes I will say it last night I believe we would have been better off with Buzz ball, we sure as hell wouldnt have been any worse.

Dear God, we lose a game, and everyone goes crazy.

it's not that we lost a game, it's how we lost it. with no defense being played. usually you'll see a team progress during the season. or learn from their mistakes. for ex. tenn is losing not bc of bad shooting or young players, but because they play no defense, no sense of pride. thing is there has been no improvement. we are ridiculously lazy on D. my coach would run the crap out of us if we gave pathetic effort the night before. practices would be ridiculously tough. the nxt game u better believe things changed, and stayed changed. you don't see this w/ bruce's team. for the millionth time i have NO idea what bruce does in practice

I posted that a couple of days ago after the Gonzaga game, but I see your point.

sickening. after last nites game i vowed not to watch them until i learned that things were changing. if i wanna watch street ball, i'll go to the gym at the projects.

note: in huntsville one of the projects really does have their own gym. played summer league there a few times. small gym but it's always standing room only, a lot of former college players play in this league. but play at ur own risk, last year a guy was shot for talking smack.
